Hello to everyone.....I been newcelica member for quite awhile now and I not posted that many times mainly because everything I've discover or think of has already been shared, which is cool a goood thing. My point you ask......the other reason is that I've had my GT-S since Feb 15,2001 and I've not had all bad experiences but enough to make me wish that I didn't trade my Talon away!!!! I need you guys/girls opinions, input, help and be honest...because I don't know what to do. When I originally purchased the car there was a squeaking noise at idle(tensioner, right....nope that didn't fix), if you push the clutch pedal in the squeak goes away, let your foot off the clutch, squeak comes back! I know this is a long story but to fully grasp my predicament you have to read on. The dealer said that it would be no problem to fix because of course the car is new and under warranty. Well needless to say the damn squeak stilll comes and goes!!! I've had it in for repair for this problem 4 times!!! Also, I had my car in for work to be done(oil change and lowering spriings) in May 2001, after the work was completed, the TOYOTA MECHANIC took the car out for a test drive to check out the lower springs and the "Granny shiftin', non-double clutchin' " jerk MIS_SHIFTTED my ride!!!!!!!!!!! The dealership informed me of the mishap and I ended up waiting a month for parts from Japan, and the labor time to "replace" the necessary internals etc.!!! Now, to top that, on this test drive the CEL comes on and they aren't sure why?!!! I thinkin' what the @#$! they had the damn car for a month and replaced all this stuff and the CEL is on???? I wait for etc.etc parts and labor!! Finally get my car back lowered and no CEL(man I couldn't be mad anymore when I saw my baby hugin the ground in her new come take me for a ride stance!!!)) but it wasn't even a month before the CEL came back on!!!! Well that''s the main of the story.....I've had new ECU, valves, shims, gaskets, clutch assembly, shift springs stiffened, adjusted valve clearance, belt tensioner, lubed throw out bearing,,injector set, fuel computer, engine insulayor, timing chain, all internals, water pump, oil pump assembly, did i say the kitchen sink was replaced also!!!!! I've had it in for CEL 6 times and that squeak 3 times(on record). I got Toyota involved and the had me come int to the dealership and "download" something to them from my car? Dealership service manager is a good guy(just can't get my car fixed) and he said that "Toyota" asked him if I was "hot roddin'" my car. I can see why they would ask, but how the @#$! do you hot rod a car "DESIGNED" to rev to infinity(190hp@7800 rpm and 133lb torque at 6800rpm)!!!!! The only "hot rod" mod I have would be the "butterfly" removal(at the FIRST DTC Celica meet....hey DCSeventhGen!!) and TRD Air Filter! So, Toyota has decided to wash their hands of the situation due to the"driver error" of the mechanic at the dealership!!! A meeting of the dealerships' owner, general manager, and the service manager is going to take place MONDAY to decide if they are going to get me a NEW engine and transmission, or a new Celica. I'm pretty sure they don't have a chance legally since Toyota is not backing them up know......I told the dealership that I wanted a whole new engine, transmission, and clutch assembly. Know I'm thinkin' why would I want these guys to do more repair to my car when they couldn't get it right so far and they can';t drive for that matter!!! Since I do have a few suspension mods on "my" car, if they gave me a new car they'd have to transfer all my mods right?.....I mean this isn't "TOYOTA'S" fault this is between me and the dealership. They'd have to do the labor for allthe otrher mods I've done also, because if I new this was a lemon in the first place I wouldn't have put the mods on!!!1 They assured me before I bought the car, that the squeak would be fix and it's not PLUUUUSSS this new CEL issue that started since they mis-shifted the car. Would it be more practical to give me a "new" TRD Celica since it has comparable mods to what I have done(basically suspension parts)?!!!! I think it should be my chioce what to do but the thing is I don't know for sure what to do ...I love my car and I'd hate to depart from it but at the same time I don't want to go through this cycle again when they put in this "new" motor. I do apologize for this long movie length story but most of the search stuff revealed mis-shifts by the owner and covered by Toyota and no lingering problems, so i think I may be in allitle bit different situation. All weekend I'll be checking this thread...hopefully you all can help and I thank all those who give advise and input. Anybody out there go through arbitration? or the courts yet for this situation? Thanks. I know there are alotof typo's haha but Im tryiong to type as fast as i'm thinking and it didn't work to well....peace.

way too much work. get a new celi and make them transfer all ur aftermarket parts to it. also, write your mileage down every time you let the car into the dealer.

Yep. You have a fair case for a replacement car. - And yes - be reasonable with the dealership manager, discuss the negligence that led to the valve job, and the inconvenience.

That's the real issue. You haven't been fairly treated, and you will take your business, and the business of a good number of other potential car buyers with you.

hahaha thats pretty funny. not the story but the comment above mines.

anyways i think that is total BS by the dealer. you deserve a new car. you havent done anything wrong. if you had to take them to court, youd win no doubt.

I'm with Skamikaze on this one. I hope they give you a new car -- that's ridiculous.

and make them pay up for all the inconvenience they caused by having your car in so often.

Ask for a new car. The Sevice dept. already has shown thier incompetence. By mishifting your car, then "fixing" and it not being right ever since. They have shown they can't fix your car and probably alot of others. Like you said it's not really Toyota of America's fault or even the poor Celica's fault but the dealerships ignorance. I say be happy you bought a new GT-S. And demand a brand new vehicle.

Demand a new car, loaded! And free oilchanges for life. You deserve it for all the **** they put you through.

Use this analogy, what happens when the service tech takes your car out for a spin, get's into a car accident, and totals your car? The dealership must pay for the replacement cost of the vehicle under their insurance company. What happened to you was basically the same deal. I'd get a new Celica or make them give you fair value in cash for the car.

It's in the warrenty, you deserve a new car. ANY rebuilt engine will NEVER EVER last as long as a fresh from the factory one. They will be giving you back a less-than-what-you-had-to-begin-with vehicle caused by their mistake. You should not be satisfied with a rebuild, it will NOT last as long and end up giving you much more problems then anyone deserves from a new car.

Thanks guys/girls, I feel even more confident than I did before I posted this LOOOOONNNNG @#! post! Sorry about the length, but I think I had to get it all out to people that would probably understand. Thanks for the responses!

Seems that from the replies I should go for the new Celica, but I ask you if you would get a new GT-S or get the TRD upgrade Celica(sporttivo pkg/action pkg). My mods are minor(TRD A/F,butterfly ,Intrax lowering springs, and all the lights/lenses and bulbs, TRD graphics, and tint) and I have JSP side skirts but not installed yet. Don't want to be greedy but also not get shafted anymore!!! Thanks again.

I never let those idiots test drive my car! who knows what they are doing to it. I would be so angry if I was you, and demand a new car.

Demand a new car with the TRD upgrade!
You didn't mention if they supplied a "loaner" for you to drive during this incident. If they didn't, demand the Action/TRD package for your inconvience and your promise not to sue them in court if your not satisfied.
