i've been debadged >:(

so im parking my car to go to violin class (im an asian kid, whaddya expect?), i get out to open my trunk to get out mah instrument. and i try to get a grip on the right, lateral side of the trunk and feel something sticky..... first thought that popped in was O MAMA NO!!! i felt around... and my GT emblem was gone... ripped off... some of the glue was still on there. i come home to finish the debadging job that someone had o so kindly done for me. got a blowdrier, put on heat, and warmed up the glue and took it off. now the right side of the trunk thing looks NAKED. what should i do? when i lit it up, i saw 2 minor scratches next to the emblem.

so now i have the gt area totally clean....it looks pretty clean. i kinda like it. is the Toyota easy to remove? is it bolted in like the honda emblems are? if that doesnt work, how much are GT emblems?

i need the dealership guys to put it on too.... maybe they can do something about the scratches. please help...... i know its only a GT but its mah CAR!! wheres that reallly reallly really sad smilie? i cant put it on.... :(

Man that really sucks to have some ricer do that to you. I guess he felt that the GT emblem would add 50 hp to his Civic :rolleyes:

Be glad you don't have gold emblems. Then that would REALLY suck. BTW badges aren't cheap.

The Toyota emblem is put on the same as the GT. I took both off my GT-S and really like it, just personal preference and I'm too lazy to wax/polish around them.

Here here Oldster - same deal with me - I actually like the look without any badges - though I miss the splash of red from the GTS logo on the silver... however, now the GT guys think I'm a GT with GTS wheels. :) teehee... they don't know about the nitrous though. :)

I prefer the clean look w/out any badges. When I picked up my car, I stopped in the dealer parking lot and proceeded to debadge it.

The salesman was freaked!

the toyota one is on just like the gt one. heat it up and get some fishing line and gently go along the emblem. since the toyota emblem is longer you might have to heat it up a few times before making it to the other end. don't force it through, just pause, heat it up, and continue. you can leave the line in there when you're heating.

or if you want the emblem ask someone who intentionally took theirs off. I'm sure they'd want to help a brother out.

i've got two sets since i debadged both celicas. (see below) u can have a set of mine for cheap. one's the reg toyota/gt symbol. the second has the blue vinyl on it done by gt2000quebec. looks great and imo if u r doing a blue theme.

thanks, you all!!! i shaved everything..... i used a blowdrier and some floss. it looks clean, but it'll take me a lil while to get used to it. i guess now i can add it as mods haha debadged GT. a positive from a negative, eh? once again THANKS...

i got off the fone from symestoyota where i got the car. $18.99 for the GT badge. INSTALL IS $35 FRIKING DOLLARS!!! It's just adhesive goshdarnit. o well... its staying clean. any reputable body shop can take out the scratch rite? that's what's bothering me more than anything else..... $54 dollars of damage that idiot did to me.

pep boys sells bumper sticker removal (comes in a spray can) and works really well.. probably better than heating it up, and it promises not to damage the paint on your car..

i debadged my toyota emblem, but the GTS just looks so good, i can't get rid of it.. =)
