View Full Version : Quick TRD Springs Install Question

I'm going to be installing a set of TRD lowering springs on a 02 GTS. I was talking to a kid today that was driving a seriously dropped GT. He mentioned cutting the bushings in half for a smoother ride. I'm assuming he means the rubber stops that keep the suspension from banging metal to metal when fully compressed.

Is this really an issue with the moderate lowering a TRD spring set is gonna give? Or is it really just a concern for people driving fancy snow plows ... like this kid. (I'm serious, I probably couldn't of put the toe of my shoe under his front end.)

Any opinions are appreciated.

I did not cut the stops on mine with TRD springs. You have to hit a really serious hole to bottom it out. Course I don't cruise around with a crew in the car either.

Not an issue with TRD springs. Don't need to cut the bump stops.

Definitely don't cut the stops. Cutting them will result in a much harder impact when you do bottom out. To avoid this altogether, you should consider getting stiffer shocks to go with the springs.
