Stupid Question

Why is it that when I was driving hard on one given day that my dome light just shorted out and my dash clock is so dim that i can't see it and I can't get my dome light to work? or was it just coincidence i guess?

You think I would have other power related problems though? Although now that i think about it when I use my power windows at night the lights dim until the window is done moving. And Sometimes my headlights dim with my radio being on. This car is brand new though could the alternator be defective?
Thanks for your time if you could help me again that would be great. Is there any way I can check the voltage at the alternator with a multi meter to see if that is really what it is? And if so what is the proper measurment? thanks bro

From what you described with the lights and windows, it sounds like your alternator is going. It is uncommon for one to go bad this soon but not impossible.

However, I don't have the expertise to tell you how to check it or what it should be running. I'd take it to the dealer and have them fix it. Whatever it is should likely be covered by warranty. Sorry I can't help more.
