Looks like the idiots at SOA forgot that that California has 91 octane gas. The STI manual says NO LESS THAN 93 OCTANE FUEL and um yeah you get the idea. Also, it says do not use fuel additives. Well, seems as though the STI's are suffering from detonation. Dosent look good.

Nevada only gets 91 also. The next gas up is 100 race gas carried only at certain locations and cost over 3:50 a gallon. We want 93 damn it!

So that's why celica 1/4 mile times tend to be higher in california. :chuckles:

Not only is it 91 but it's also got "extras" that are supposed to make in more environmentally friendly. POS piss water gas!

I don't know where you guys got the idea that the unavailability of high octane fuel has anything to do with the environment. The Sunoco 94 Octane stuff here has LOWER emissions. Take a look at this:

Thats because cali is where the fake peeps are ... and the gays, and the earthquakes .... and the high crime ..... and the low octane gas ...... Florida OWN3S joo!

it's absolutely pointless to use anything higher than what the manual says for a stock application. the only celica owners in california that should be whining are those who use forced induction.

From what Ive read the detonation is caused by the ECU agressively advancing the timing.
