ok...i have few questions

is there a reason why the lift kicks in so late on the gts?

is there a way to change where lift kicks in?

if there is, will it hurt the car?

If it kicked in any lower you would actually make less power.

how is that? how can a vtec kick in at 5 1/2 and w can't. i thought that we both basically had the same engine. but anyways you have the same i/e that i'm going with. i have a white gts too..lol

No, we do not have the same engine, and why do you want to lower the second engagement? Can't you shift quick?

The second cam engages right when the first stops making power. The second cam's power increases quickly as the RPMs rise, but also drops quickly as the RPMs drop. Here is a crude drawing explaining why it wouldn't be a good idea to lower the second cam's engagement.

Blue Bomber I have been thinking of drawing something like that specifically to answer this question when it comes up. Obviously you are not as lazy as I am :) good job

Don't forget that with the current gear ratios in the celica that you can't keep it in lift no matter how fast you shift.

You are right. I keep forgetting about the 2002 models.

What's new about the 2002 models? No flames... just a question out of curiousity...

I think the fuel cut-off in the '02 GT-S is at 7800 rpms whereas the '00 and '01 models the cut off is at 8400 rpms. It's still difficult to hit the 2nd cam on a 1-2 shift in my '00 model. You basicaly have to slip the clutch to keep the engine above 6k. And this is not good for the clutch.

just curious..why did they make the fuel cut-off at 7800 in the 02 models?
