XteSy17 I forgot to ask you yesterday. You are from newark right?
Is there any chance that you might be portuguese?

Blue bomber has a better camera that I do:( Plus he is a more talented photographer. Oh well, I hope I get better pics when I learn to use my camera...more than just the movie mode and auto mode. I'm going to try more of the manual adjustments. Blue Bomber, when it is light out, like it was, what do you set the ISO at, what is ISO, should you make the EV +/-, etc.?

Blue Bomber, when it is light out, like it was, what do you set the ISO at, what is ISO, should you make the EV +/-, etc.? You should only use higher ISO's if it is really dark when you're taking the picture. Like pitch black with only the moonlight and your pictures are coming out too dark. Higher ISO's greatly increase the noise in the picture. Stick with ISO 100.

You should try to stick with 0 EV for exposure. If you put it to +1 or higher, you're losing detail in the brightest parts of the picture. If you set it to -1 or lower, you're losing detail in the darkest parts of the picture. Only during certain circumstances, like going skiing and there's lots of snow around, do you need to adjust the EV. With snow, it will most likely reflect the sunlight at the camera, making the snow look way too bright. That's when you need to turn the EV down.

If your camera has full manual adjustments (shutter speed and lens aperture) the EV might adjust automatically on the screen to show the exposure of the picture to be taken (like it does on mine). Adjust both settings until the EV is 0. Sometimes you might need to go slightly above or below depending on the subject of the picture. The camera takes the whole picture into consideration when it gives you the EV reading (unless you have a spot metering option that lets you pinpoint a certain portion of the pic).

BTW, lens aperture is the depth of field in the picture. Lower numbers (like f2) focus more on the subject, making the areas behind and in front slightly to very blurry, depending on their distance from the subject. Higher numbers (like f7) focus on the entire picture, keeping everything sharp. Only problem is, the higher the aperture, the darker the picture will be, so you need to increase shutter speed.

The shutter speed sets how fast the picture is taken. Higher numbers (like 1/1000 second) are good for motion shots like sports, where lower numbers would create blurry pictures. Lower numbers (like 5 seconds) are good for darker locations since they let in more light, but will more than likely cause a blurry picture if not used with a tripod. Just like aperture, the higher the shutter speed, the darker the picture.

That concludes my digital photography lesson for today. http://www.3dpcgame.com/cwm/s/contrib/lynx/yelwink.gif

Hey Blue!

Glad to see you got the car back! I wish I would'a known about the meet, I would have swung by on the way back from Menlo. We had a bimmer meet there, and I have to be honest, it put the celi meets to shame. Had at least 40 cars there, and from what I understand, there were alot of peeps missin. But def cool none the less. I can't get on nc.org at work for some reason, and I don't touch the comp when I get home for the most part, otherwise I def would have swung by. Glad to see everything's going good, maybe I can catch the next one. Nice pick though, lot's of tight celi's (man I miss that car, but I can deal with the torque for now...)

ImageStation doesn't want to upload them. If you use Yahoo Messenger I could just send you them, or I may be able to send them to you in a series of emails. Or you could just give me a CD-R and I could burn them onto it. BTW, I also have a sig ready for you if you still want it.
