spray it with WD-40 or some other penetrating lubricant and use a long handle on the ratchet, and put some muscle into it. It also helps if you don't use a real deep socket so it won't slip off when applying force to the ratchet.

Yup, a longer handle on the socket or wrench. Make sure you are turning it the right way. My feeble mind has problems with the righty-tighty lefty-loosy thing when I am working at odd angles to the nut or bolt.
It don't put it on so tight when you reinstall it. 25 ft-lbs or so is the spec, that isn't very tight (finger tight till it sets then another 1/4 turn.

Yar. I'm always having some kind of problem loosening Toyota factory tightened bolts. Leverage is a mechanic's best friend. Find a long ass bar... and WHAM! It will sound like a rusty pushrod snapping in two when you finally twist it loose.
After I tighten the bolt myself though I never have a problem getting it loose again. I wanted to smash my head through a wall the day I was trying to get my lug nuts off for the first time.

It's so hard to get your lugs off the first time, because the factory uses air impact wrenches and with aluminum wheels it will end up actually driving the lug so far as to slightly embedding it in the rim itself. Always use a long ass hand wrench to tighten your lugs so that problem never happens again. people with impact guns will blast the s*** out of the lug and sometimes it will even crack an aluminum rim.
