When you say baseline you mean pre-turbo?

Fourgig
06-27-2003, 11:40 PM
I think baseline is 167.9?

larryd
06-28-2003, 07:24 AM
Yeah one is 167.9 and the other is 175.6. Im as assuming thats pre-turbo but what are the differences from the 2 runs. Is that before and after the power FC was installed.

Yes I think you're correct. That's what I take from that dyno anyway.

sorry for the delay. the lower # was the first run is with just the Power FC and my Injen CAI and straight pipe. The second run is after all the tuning with the Power FC. S 175.6 is pre turbo. XS is expecting to get about 250 WHP.

Those are some good, solid baseline numbers, man. Can't wait to see your numbers when the turbo is completely installed and tuned. Good luck at the track when you get around to running it.

Keyshawn you forgot to remind him to reinforce that tranny.
Thats a good thing to do for your 2ZZ before you bring it to the track.

:werd: If you have enough money, maybe also C-One or Kaaz gears might be another power-upping investment, plus I hear they're stronger than stock gears.

Excellent point, Mike. Stronger gears like the set from C-One would be a great addition. The downside, of course, is that they are mad expensive. However, I'm not sure that getting a new gear set is completely necessary. It's possible my tranny problems might have been a fluke.

smaay are you a hardcore racer? Do you go to track alot? If you answer yes on both then reinforce that tranny is what I recommand. Yes it may be expensive but it would be cheaper in the long run.
It may be a fluke on Keyshawn tranny, and are you willing to risk buying a new tranny versus having tranny done right first time or do nothing at all which is a tough decision.
Well thats the bad part of being one of the first to have these power adders, you never know what needs to be done and if something breaks you are usually first one to break it which end up costing big bucks to fix it.

Believe me, i am worried about tranny problems. I do race quite a bit. I love speed what can i say. I wish i had the $$ to do the LSD and flywheel while the clutch was replaced. i need to go back to work first.

Wait... Can you show a bigger pic of the dyno with the Power FC installed cause I just want to know if the Power FC is making more power than the stock ecu after tuning or not... but unless the Power FC is going to be tuned differently because of turbo than on NA car, then nevermind.

Call Reggi at XS Engineering. (714) 698-8300 He told me that a tuned Power FC will only make a few HP. Its really not worth it. He can answer your question better

I was told the same thing. However, if Crower ever gets around to finishing their 2zz cams, and/or if Alaniz ever gets around to finishing his 2zz cylinder head porting research (two big IF's), then the Power FC could be amazing for the n/a guys.

the biggest draw for the Power FC is being able to get more power than an S-AFC and the ECU won't revert to stock settings over time. also rev limiter :)

hey keyshawn: i've been AWOL for a while, did you ever run your car a track or anything or get times? how's it holding up?

what kind of clutch and flywheel are you running in your car?

Smaay

I am running the ACT street clutch. no flywheel. I had mine re-surfaced.

What torque are you getting? ACT is suppose to be good to 225lbs of torque, it looks like you are pushing to the edge :)
Hope you get the car back today :)

Well I know the advantage of having the Power FC is to make the lift from 5800-8700 rpm and adds a few hp over the SAFC without reverting back to stock... but from whut Smaay and Keyshawn posts, it might not be worth the $1000 to buy it unless you have the Crower cams to support the extra range of power... the thing that troubles me is that the Hondata for the RSX Type S does the same exact thing, but they gain like 20 hp from it stock...

Smaay - can you post a bigger or clearer pic of your baseline dyno please or can you email me the pic at tran1217@hotmail.com

thanks

The Celica is already tuned pretty close to the line which is why adjusting the fuel does not make that much of a change for the car.

I suppose the RSX is tuned rich from the factory so leaning it out with the hondata allows to make more power. As Keyshawn said unless you are doing something on the car to allow more air into the engine then changing the tune is not worth it IMHO. Not to mention tuning is a pita.

doesn't hondata also mess with ignition timing? how about any of the i-vtec settings? (since you can mess with the vvt-i maps on the power fc)

Engine's running well. I've now logged 4,900 mi since getting the turbo. Haven't gone to the track. I've had two major car-related issues to deal with, one being that tranny problem I had a few months back and the other, more recent one was having my front bumper, intercooler, radiator, a/c compressor, etc. smashed in by some dumb girl who backed into my car.

Well you will be a better governor than Gray Davis if you keep that promise :D
Forget Arnold Schwartzenager (sp?) Smaay for Governor!! :D

Don't we all need new sigs :) I am so lazy to list everything I just decided to leave them all off.

aint that the truth. Gray Davis needs to go. First thing i would do is get rid of all the stupid smog laws. 3S-GTE's for everyone!!! More 1/4 mile race track to be built!!! am i missing anything?
