My Car's Slowly Deteriorating

I probably havent taken the best care of my car driving-wise (i tear the hell out of it), but i do take care of it well maintenance-wise. In any case, my car's starting to sound and feel like ****. first of all, my belt squeaks ALL the time, especially when i turn on the car on a cold morning. its hella embarrassing when i start my highly noticeable celica and all you hear is a loud squeaking like it was some lemon made in the 70's. i've tried belt dressing and asking the dealer to give me a new tensioner. no luck either way. then there's the LOUD clicking/knocking noise from my engine. i;ve heard all sorts of reasons for this including bent valves, but the dealer wont help me out with that anywayz. then theres the the rattling noise when i hit 4,000 RPM's in first through fourth gear. every time i rev between 4-4500 i hear this ****ty ass sound like something's loose in my engine (after 4500, i dont hear it anymore though). then there's the vvtl-i. now that **** won't even work when my car's not warmed up yet. when i hit 6,000 i hear a gurgling noise and my revs just drop. once in a while when it does work, my second cams feel A LOT weaker than it used to be. i even drove my homie's stock 2002 GT-S and his lift feels a lot stronger than mine (dayam, i remember when my car used to be like that). next, there's the 80+ MPH noise. this pisses me off the most. when i go over 80, i hear this constant wind disruption sound (im pretty sure its from around my driver's side mirror area). its really annoying, especially when i do a lot of freeway driving. it sounds kind of like a low whistle, but its pretty loud, and it doesnt stop. next on my list of problems are random rattling noises. i hear them from diff. places at diff. times and its making my car sound really cheap. next up is the CHEAP recycled plastic interior. u wont believe how many careless people (including me) skratched up the plastic everywhere. sorry this post is so dayam long, but my warranty's almost up, and i need to know if u guys have any suggestions for these probs. i love my celica, but i dont want to look towards a future of more problems with it. if i cant get at least some of these probs taken care of soon, then im probably gonna sell the parts off my car and sell the celi. i'll probably buy a sentra SE-R Spec-V or sumthin....just playin jermaine. seriously tho, maybe a subaru WRX or a Yamaha R1

I too have been disappointed in the fit and finish of the Celica, given previous Toyota's that I've owned. I figured this was part of living with a sports car.

The 80+mph noise is most likely the driver's side mirror (for which there is a TSB) *OR* the window seal in the driver's side door (that's what was causing my noise).

I have the same 6K RPM problem that you describe when the car is cold. My "fix" is to not take the car into lift before its warmed up. I always figured this was something the engine or ECU was doing to prevent engine damage.

You're kind of a good example of whats wrong with a lot of Celica owners. Learn something about your car, and when YOU'VE done everything in your power to take care of it, then you have the right to complain... otherwise.. blame yourself.

Why are you taking your car above 6K if its not warmed up? What are you thinking? Why don't u pick up the car manual. It would tell you that the car will not go above 6,300 rpm when its cold. If you keep doing this, no wonder you **** is f'd up. You admit to beating up your car, and then u complain about it!?! U think a friggin NIssan specV is going to fix your problems? Yeah.. ok man.

If you did any research at all, you'd know that the celica's do have some issues with belts and tensioners.. that is your dealers RESPONSIBILITY to fix. The is an inherent flaw in the car it appears. U get it fixed once, it should not break again. My suggestion to u is get it fixed, and quit living life about 8,200+ RPM.. as soon as I stopped slamming my rev limiter all the time, it stopped breaking on me... maybe its a coincidence, but you can't just beat on your car 24/7 and expect it to run like new.

ey static......youze a little punk b1tch. i've had my 2000 celi since it came out in 1999 and have been on the message boards ever since. i dont think i couldve had my car this long, spend countless hours on msg boards, spend a crap load of time at the dealerships, and work at an autozone and not kno anything about the car. u say u don't want to sound like an ass, but thats what i perceive you to be. i made this post to get suggestions, not have some punk azz make stupid comments and try to make seem like some ignorant bastard. so in other wordz, if u dont have anything helpful to say, then dont post on this thread anymore. and BTW, the nissan spec-v thing was an inside joke cuz one of my team members just sold his GT and bought the nissan. static = punk azz fooL!!! also for ur belt tensioner comment, like i said, i already went to the dealer and asked them to fix it. they were adamant that the noise was coming from my intake so they wouldnt give me a new tensioner.

also, when i said that i cant hit lift when its not warmed up, i meant like when its not FULLY warmed up. i dont just turn on the car in the morning and try to hit lift to get to the first stop sign. i also dont hit lift all that much either (maybe a few days out of the week and at races). even when i do hit lift, im careful.......i only go into redline when im at the races, but otherwise i shift b4 7500.

420.. well i dont have a GT-S but i thought this might help...

i got this irritating squeaky sound coming outta my Throwout bearing... like high pitched cricket like squeak... also when in idle, my engine sounds like sheit... ticking and squeaking... and also high pitched noises.... take a look at your throwout bearing to see if that shiet is loose and it is causing metal to metal friction...

i took it to the dealer to get new throwout put in.. and they are tryin to give me shiet about my CAI... i juss got this throwout bearing like 2months ago when i got my tranny replaced.... obviously this throwout is defective... phuck dealers... i dont know whatelse to tell u since i do not have most of probs you are having man.... 420 go to dealer again and request ur car to be looked at by TOYOTA regional representative.. that is what i am doing since these phuckez dont wanna cooperate... hope this helps a lil bit..

.. and by the way. If your dealer doesn't want to help you at all, u need to go to another dealer or call Toyota directly and complain. There are certain things on this car that are crappy out of the factory, and the belt/tensioner is one of them. It's gotten replaced in almost every Celica I know...

ay yo static....first of all, im not just from any team. im from team unison which im sure u've heard of. second of all, i posted this thread so that i might get useful info that i can use such as the post by celicanamja79 (thanx for that by the way). also, if u reread my post i said that if u're not gonna post helpful info, then stop posting ineffectual crap on the THREAD, not the BOARD. i kno u're the admin, so how would i have the authority to tell u to not post on the board. im not gonna front, so straight up, im 20 yrs old and im a undergrad student at UCLA (yes, the third ranked public skool in the country) on a full scholarship, so if u want to insult someone's intelligence, then u got the wrong person. as for the autozone thing, i put that down to merely state that i have an automotive background (as limited as u may believe it to be), and not to say that i was a connoisseur in automotive technology. as for the rest of yall thats spitting demeaning crap (ie chumpchiggy), i didn't even say anything to yall so get off my nutz. as for static, if u really are a churchgoer, then i guess u should kno that im also an avid believer in Christ, so in His name, i apologize if i have offended u or have caused u any psychological harm.

I remember some of your friends in Unison saying you were a nice guy in person, and I'll give ya the benefit of the doubt. But ya gotta learn to relax. I remember a few years ago having a case of road rage and smashing some dude's door in trying to get at him. What good did it do me? Hell, I almost got arrested.
