Anyone consider an 80's Mustang SVO as a good sleeper car for GS?
By 1986 they were 205 hp (5000 rpm) and 240 ft-lbs of torque (3000 RPM). 16x7 wheels (can you say BIG tires) and they have a factory limited slip.
They even have 4 wheel disk brakes, something the Celica GT doesn't have.
If you could find a good one that is bone stock, then you're looking at a nice ride...
For those wondering... 3000 pounds. I really do think this could be a sleeper.

Tough car to find...The 2.3 turbo engine could also be kind of a nightmare to work on. My parents owned an '88 Thunderbird Turbo-Coupe and even that overweight beast could get up and move, at least in a straight line, when it wanted to. I've only ever even seen one SVO on the road around this area in the last year or so.
Last year the Chrysler Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion seemed to be a real sleeper in GS. You don't see many of them and I'm glad that locally the only person who owns one decided to race his Mustang GT most days. I don't know where that car ended up in the new classifications. Last year as a GS car was the fourth change in 6 years apparantly.

The problem I see with either of these cars is that they are old. Finding a "good" one could be quite an adventure and even if you do probably ever suspension bushing will be rotted out.
Phil: if he was a GS Mustang (6 banger) he remains in GS for 2002

I worry most about the V-6 Camaros. The FS ers have learned how to set up the suspension for AX, and it's a dependable torquey engine.

Oh, AND a certain Honda...
At least Driver won't have to deal with him in Ladies. (or GH!)
