Well my car is still there :( but im not complaining too much. Id rather it still be there and done right then have it now and half assed. Anyways, whats happening is that im getting boost creep. At the higher RPM's the boost rises up to 11 psi. Not Good!!! so they pulled the turbo off and are investigating why. here are a few pics i took while i was there. i did get a video of a dyno run too. oh by the way i hit over 260 WHP with the higher boost.

It looks like i might not be able to put a fog light back in. Ill have to find out later.

Thats great man. Did you say you were still using the stock downpipe because obviously if you are thats the cause of your boost creep. XS are no dummies though so Im sure theyll figure it out.

Actually this is pretty funny. The TRD muffler ran better than the test pipe. this is before final tuning, but with some basic tuning, the exhust with the muffler in was better. Right now the muffler is on so this is happening with the complete TRD exhust

Yes but TRD exhaust is only axel back. What about from the turbo to the axel?

its the stock downpipe after the turbo

Hmpf.. thats suprising.. I would have thought for sure they would replace the downpipe with a 2.5 inch unit and then go 3" from the catback.

There was some discussion about doing that. Its not in the 1st stage kit. It might be in the stage 2 kit.

I understand, this is why if I ever got a turbo Id prolly have to do it all custom other then the manifold. Its just a matter of knowing exactly what you want :)

do a 3" downpipe and let the gas flow out better... catback exhaust wont make a diff if the gas aint flowing out of the down pipe fast enough. its just like having a stuffy nose, cant breath till its unclogged =D plus having turbo, usually 2.5 to 3" would be perfect... also try getting lower compression pistons and keep ur boost at 11 like you said. you will be fine =D good luck

Thanks for the update. Props. I see you went with the polished intercooler. I also have the polished one now, ever since some chick smashed up my original IC. Heh, I figured, since her insurance was paying for it anyway...

But I need a clarification. My definition of downpipe is the pipe that actually connects the turbo itself to the rest of the exhaust, usually to the catalytic convertor or a test pipe (like in these pics):

If I'm correct, then the Celica does not even have a stock downpipe, since it is not a turbocharged car from the factory. Consequently, the XS kit includes its own downpipe, as shown in the pics. Sport Compact Car refers to the downpipe in a similar fashion: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/0207scc_projmatrix/ .

Keyshawn, your pics are awesome and correct. after the turbo is the downpipe like in your picture. the cut my stock pipe and welded on a flange to match up. its all stock from there to the axle back connection where it TRD exhaust. I should have taken pics under the car.

Keyshawn you are correct to a point. On a turbo car from the turbo back to the cat is called a downpipe, on a n/a car from the exhaust manifold back to the cat is called a header.

The pipes are essentially the same with a different name.

I took a video of the car on the dyno, but my firewire card conflicts with every video card i have. I need a different route. Ill take more video dont you worry.

I have a dumb question... where does the powerfc go?

Smaay

the Power FC is the same size as the factory ECU. it fits under the plastic cover that says do not remove.

On my car, the downpipe, which attaches to the exhaust outlet of the turbo, was fabricated by XS and is not stock. The other end of XS's downpipe connects to my stock catalytic converter, which XS cut out of my stock exhaust system and welded some custom flanges on. After the cat, the piping is stock until I get to the axle back connection, where it connects to my GReddy exhaust system. Is this how your's is set up also?

Yes that sounds exactly like my setup, I just have TRD instead of GReddy
