Depending on where you live, I could send you to my mechanic who will definately give you a better price on installation.

8hrs @ like 84/hr
this is what i wanna bring up to the service guy tommorow:
i know the clutch disc is wear tear item....but it never slipped
it was all good then....bam no more when i tried to back it outta my home after sitting for 1 week
i read of some1 losing a spring inside the assembly that messed up the clutch
my question is if something mechanical caused the clutch to wear excessively or to seize ..........is that considered wear/tear like the disc itself

i called several dealers in MA for a clutch install. i got anywhere from 8-10 hours worth of install time. i called a local mechanic: 6. another mechanic: 4. he ended up doing somewhat of a shitty job, but i'm not sure toyota mechanics are that much more trust worthy.
how many miles do you have? how do you usualy ride the clutch? a lot of people complained of stock clutch after many high RPM starts and switched to aftermarket.

If you are willing to come out to exit 52 on LIE, my mechanic would definately do the install for cheaper, you have to supply the parts though.

well here is the tear down...the tranny needs to be dropped and out of the car.
The transaxles come out too...and the engine must be supported during this time.
Take a look:
http://www.radphys.com/ARTICLE_MANUAL_TRANSAXLE_DISASSMEBLY.pdf
Then once the tranny is out (perhaps 4hrs later) here is the clutch replacement:
http://www.radphys.com/ARTICLE_MANUAL_TRANSAXLE_CLUTCH_REPAIR.pdf
He is giving me a fair shake but has to tear it down to see if anything failed that cause excessive wear or if a fin from the pressure plate caused this. Then whatever will be charge-able back to T, will be. Im crossin my fingers but doubt it
Ohh yeah i found out the clutch is hydraulic too and not mechanical....so much fun!
Take a look at the MANUAL_TRANSAXLE_DISASSMEBLY above....you may **** yourself.

600-800 for tranny work is a decent price for all the labor that goes into it. trust me i know. i have pulled my motor and tranny out.

Get Linsay to do it. He did his Celica and mine and they work great. He will do good on price too cause its not a shop. If you are in NY then its a good idea
