THIS IS WHAT HE WROTE BACK:
The kit should be available any day now.
Regards
Alex
I WROTE THIS TO BLITZ:
i saw picures of the new kit for the 2000+ celica
gts(supercharger).
i wanted to find out when this kit will come out and
how much it will cost.
there's been word of it and everyone's talking about
it over at www.newcelica.org (forum).
it will sell very well.
this is what us celica owners have been waiting on for
the past two years.
it was rated at 280 hp and 190 tq if im not mistaken

They were extremely vague in their response, but I guess its still good news.

Just called Blitz USA. They said that while it will be out any day now in Japan, it will be awhile before it is fully tested for US models. They are sticking to the timeframe they told me before, and told me to call back in March. Call 'em for more info at
Blitz USA: (714)777-9766

Maybe this will help make the Celica a bit more popular in Japan.
By the way..what's the retail on this kit, and are those numbers for real?
That's at least a LOW 13 sec car if driven right.
That'd be just about as much power as I'd need for my own personal uses..heh.
Can't wait...how about some more specifics?

is there any reason y the japanese spec supercharger won't work on the US GTS? Could just import if it u don't want to wait. No warrenty tho... although i dunno what kinda of warrenty Blitz USA will offer with it.

Some of the electronics on the US Celica differs from the Japanese Celica, primarily all the OBD-II emissions sensors on our cars.

Just to clarify, they did NOT say that the S/C was being released in March, they just told me that they'd have A LOT more information in March about when it WILL be ready.

They just told me that at 5 1/2 lbs of boost, you will have 240 at the wheels. Which is about 276 hp at the crank (using 15% drivetrain loss), so that sounds about right.

Those are some VERY good hp numbers for such a minimal amount of boost. Hopefully, Blitz can actually deliver on those claims.

compairing this to a S2000 would be a joke man.
this would be low 13's high 12's(mid 12's with good traction)
cant forget about the torque going from 133 to 190+

there are a lot of stock s2000s running low 13s. A few mods get them to the 12s as long as the driver gets a really good launch

stock S2000's in the low 13's, haha
the best ive seen stock is a 13.8, people down here in phoenix are running in the mid 14's usually.
the car is hard to get into the 12's from what i hear.
i think you have your cars mixed up
S2000-240hp
S2000-150 something tq
weighs 200+ pounds more
supercharged gts-275hp
supercharged gts-190tq
weighs 200+pounds less

ya my bad. I had just woken up when I posted that. I think I meant to say low 14 stock without launching well and high 13s if they launch well.

how much improvement does the auto gts gets with the blitz s/c
TwoToneGT-S
01-30-2002, 02:23 PM
i would say the same hp improvements, b/c it is the same engine. Of course it wont help AT shift lags though.

I think that an auto gts would run at about 17 or 18 sec. on 1/4 mile. With the Blitz s/c can it hit 15 or 14

hehe.. actually the auto might be take more advantage from the s/c then the 6spd would becuase it would be easier to get traction with the auto and the torque would help the car out sooooo much.. only problem is with it being an auto you lose like 20% through the driveline instead of 15% for the manual.. so less power but prolly better at getting it to the ground..

The supercharger they developed is for the GT-S right? Will they come out with one for the GT?

Another problem is lack of Limited Slip Differential for the Auto GT-S. Unless someone makes an LSD for the Auto GT-S or, like for the Neon I believe, the Auto trans differential is the same as in the manual trans. Anyone has a solution for this "missing" LSD for the Auto GT-S?

6speed doesnt have an lsd either.

I understand a stock 6-speed GT-S has no more LSD than the Auto GT-S. But, I believe there are some aftermarket LSD's for the 6-speed and none for the Auto GT-S. Isn't?

Does anyone know if we'll have to disable the VVTL-i like Rado did in his TRD drag car?

Probably not, unless you want to run 700+ hp like his 2zz did.

well the auto has less need for an LSD in drag racing to begin with...plus it's a celica automatic so aftermarket companies would be less inclined to make one.
i bet quaife could do something, they can do a lot of custom tranny work, but it requires a minimum run of like 25 units (meaning you have to have 25 buyers committed before they put out a production run of these).
but for reference, zooq and his 60-75 shot of NOS with torque converter and ATF cooler and drag radials is running mid 14s at 3200ft elevation (around low-mid 14s at lower elevation). i don't think he got a good time for the 75 shot, that 14.6x was for 60. so an S/C GTS auto w/torque converter and ATF cooler should be into low-mid 14s as it looks like it gives a bit more power than a 60 shot of nitrous. without torque converter, maybe mid-high 14s.
i'd bet money with the S/C and some other bolt-ons and tranny mods, i'd be into 13s here.
cuz it really depends on your car and elevation. there is drastic difference in times for the auto GTS. i ran a 16.6 @ 85 in my car (intake, unbolted exhaust) at sea level, and it's consensus the nitrous or s/c will take more than 2 seconds off your time. by itself. no tranny mods. it has a bigger improvement than the 6-speed because it solves so many problems (no torque, no launch, etc.) at once.
BTW, for 280hp/190tq like some guys here are saying the blitz s/c puts out, you'd absolutely at minimum need an ATF cooler and a valve body recalibration if you don't want your tranny to overheat and die. synthetic ATF would help too, and i'd recommend a ATF Trans Temp gauge just so you can keep an eye on things. Someone with cash might want to look at Level Ten's rebuild kit, it's like $1200 and has new clutches, bands, etc. to make the tranny tougher. couldn't hurt. just don't get them to install it for you as i've heard bad things and make sure you thoroughly inspect all their parts first.

Actually the numbers for the Japanese Celica with SC are: 265 Hp @ 7,600 rpm and185 lb/ft of torque @ 4,800 rpm. The US spec hp numbers will likely be a little less due to our OBD-II emissions equipment. Sorry about being picky, I just want to keep us all accurate.
