8 sec time slip CELICA 1.8L 2ZZ motor!!!

this is Chris' new (other) celica found on his site... got a link to his time slip... 8 sec... all done by a CELICA!!!! still the same 1.8L 2ZZ found in our GT-S's of course all kinds of other stuff done....

Got some bad news for you dude, that was done in the Integra, not the Celica. :(

Im not too sure on this one but i dont think the celica has actually done a sub 9 second run yet, even though it says it has. From what it looks like that is what they expect out of it. How much do you think that thing weighs completely gutted and with fiberglass front and back? gotta be like 1700lbs or something unbelievable, with 750hp at the wheels, that thing is gonna be redic.

It does not say that the Celica has run any times. If you look at the link it shows the Celica times and HP as estimated. If you scroll down to the Integra it gives the same times as the ones given for the record. If you click on the photo it will tell you all about the record setting. As far as I know the Celica has never been on the track.

ya, I just hope it does get out there and kick some ass, then finally maybe we can get some respect and get a good aftermarket going. nothing is more persuading to aftermarket companies than a world record in drag racing to get them to make some turbos kits. I doubt it will break any records any time soon, but it should be fun to see a celica running sub 10's so we can talk some trash hehehe. JP

actually there was a post about a month ago.. they decided to ditch the 2zzge engine for something else in hopes of making more power..

Vinny Ten I believe is using the Tundra motor in his Supra. The Tube Frame Celica is going to use the 3S-GTE motor since they are easily good for 900+ hp. The Unibody GT-S I believe will have the 2ZZ block in it and looks to run 8's in it. The Supra is a built Supra motor.
