View Full Version : Modded Red GTS on 495 N

Who is the Red GTS that rat raced me on 495 North around Tewksbury, MA on Sunday with NH plates? Very nice, heavily modded red GTS with exhaust and pillar gauges, taunts me like mad on the hiway, riding me, revin' me like mad, so I WOT and we run several miles on 495 N. Traffic was too ****ty for a really good race, but it was a close run when we did have open road. We would run even up to like 120mph and then have to slow for traffic. Between his exhaust and my catback straight pipe, both at WOT, the sound was amazing. 2 Red GTS's just screaming down the hiway.

chicken is nuts.. i used to "play" that with my 91 geo metro. the kid i used to play such antics with owned a muscle bound ford mustang. a former high school wrestling teammate; he died a year ago..

how's the "step" thing work? I assume it's a MA license thing.
StreetFighter
07-10-2003, 03:26 PM
Ok, this is what I think how the step thing works. The lower the #, the lower your insurance rates.
Everyone starts off at step 15. Everytime you get a speeding ticket, your step goes up 2 points. Everytime you cause a car accident, your step goes up 2 points. At the end of each year, if you don't have any speeding tickets, then you drop a point. So the lower the better.
bagodoosh
07-10-2003, 04:17 PM
well it used to be that step 9 paid less than 15, but now i think they've made it such that 9-15 = same.
and i believe if you've been clear of positive points in the past year, when you get a ticket, you simply miss out on your -1 point.
i thought speeding = 3
major accident (indicated by damage$) = 4
dui = 4
unsafe lane change = 2
something like that.
StreetFighter
07-10-2003, 04:50 PM
I'm not sure how the point system goes. I just know that you get certain points depending on your charge. Well if 9-15 is the same, then I shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Here is how the Mass insurance crap works:
http://www.tonry.com/articles/sdip.htm
If you do get held responsible for a ticket or accident you will recieve a notice that your points are going to increase. But you can appeal these additional points with the MA Merit Rating Appeals Board that dictates this crap. Especially with accidents, if you can prove you were less than 50% at fault, they will dismiss the points
The Merit Board hearing is a joke, with little matchbox cars for demonstrating what happened. (I recommend leaving your Hot Wheels at home). The only time I went before the Board, I was successful in appealing the added points. If you don't fight it, it f*cks your insurance for 3 to 5 years.
That and moving out to the 'burbs are the best ways to keep your insurance low. My bud just moved from Southie to Hopkinton and his insurance went down by like a $1000 a year.
speedeeGTS
07-11-2003, 07:58 PM
yea one of my accidents was 100% weather related and hit me with 4 points. ( i totalled my 97 Grand Am GT on a unplowed street going around a corner into a tree DOING the speed limit or under back on MLKJ Day in 2002) I got a letter stating how i wanted an appeal and was to receive a date for it. but never got it. what do you think i should do gtsaction? how did you go about getting your appeal?

The speed trap was on 290 Westbound halfay between 495 and Worcester (around Boylston?) I was heading down to CT around 10 am during the week and the Staties post up in the breakdown lanne around a blind corner. That's like the only place I consistently see Staties running a speed trap around here. I was cruising along at like 80 mph, talkin' to someone from work on my cell when I was like O'Sh*T, I gotta hangup!
A Red GTS w/ Action Package is a freakin' Statie magnet. I once even had a Statie drive right next to me and rev me on Route 2 in Concord, I was like WTF, should I stomp it?
Lately too I've seen some slick Statie unmarked cars, like a bright Red Pontiac Grand Prix that had some sucka pulled over on 128. Funny how Staties will never drive an import unmarked, always sh*t like Mustangs and Camaros.

i used to drive on 290 to go to CT. it's about 5mi closer but thru worcester and its 50mph limit, it comes out to around the same time. i've changed my route to 495 strait to 90, even though i pay 3x the toll and drive 5mi longer.

I've seen an unmarked Chevy Bronco before. It was a POS too. It was probably an 94 model.

Kevan, what kind of cars do they have on the list? Anything good? I bet they are all domestics. I was seeing some sh*t where they were taking seized cars and turning them into unmarkeds, but I think that was just some towns. Here is the Statie that reved me in Concord:

Bago, I've seen one of those Camaros in CT on 84S hiding behind a bridge. I never speed in CT, even though I run into tons of peeps down there who want to run ya. The thought of having to drive hours just to appeal a ticket....would probably just lead to another ticket.
I don't even know if radar detectors are legal in CT

hahaha! that's what happened to me. on the way to court to take care of an 80mph ticket i got caught at 99.
MA only has direct computer link with NH. every other state is luck. (so it reduces the chance of the ticket showing on your record)

didnt used to be; they are now. although it's useless. town cops may run radar, every statey so far has been laser.
