I didn't even know that I was going to be racing. I was at a stop light and when turned green I spun wheels a little bit to try to entice a couple of mustangs a couple of lanes over to race. They had been racing before we got to the light. As soon as I hit it, a Lexus SC400 took off as well. He was in the lane across from me. Lexus, Mustang, I don't care, a race is a race. I had a 1/2 car length lead on him from the line and was never able to do much with it. I pulled away a little bit in my third gear after he closed on me coming out of 2nd because I carried my rpms too high, past 8300. We were going all the way through my 4th gear and I quit when I hit about 110 mph when I was pretty confident that he wasn't going to pass me. It was an awesome race. I never suspected that he was going to go like he did. He was pissed and made a right hand turn off of the road. I kept going about 3 miles down the road before making a u-turn to head home. On my way back there was an FHP cop parked in the median almost exactly where I had hit my top speed just a couple of minutes ago. Sometimes it feels nice to be good and lucky!

SC400s are pretty darn quick, but they are all autos. Darn luxury cars... I think the IS300 is one of the few exceptions. My brother used to have one and it didn't like to launch hard until a few seconds after flooring it. Had great top end though, & lots of nifty toys inside.

How do you like the Short shifter? Did you do the install yourself?
I've noticed that on the later 2001 GTS, toyota spread out the gear travel quite a bit. My GTS has the gears very close together, which I happen to like. The kit doesn't alter the gear travel path laterally does it?
