I have a 00' GT-S and I use it as a daily driver/commuter. I live in the Northeast and last year's snow pretty much made me want to sell the car. I am going to give the car a chance again this winter, but I am thinking of changing the wheels or tires to better suit the conditions.

So... my question is this. Is there a good all-season tire that fits the GT-S stock rims??

~OR~

Would I be stupid to trade my GT-S rims for GT rims and mount a really nice all-season tire on them?

Thanks for you input.

Bridgestone Blizzac are great winter tires, what I ended up doing is getting steel 16" wheels and putting the blizzac tires on them. That way I don't corrode my stock wheels with all of the salt

First off, the GT-S carves up the snow on winter tires. :)

As for all-seasons, check The Tire Rack (http://tirerack.com/)'s survey results, there are many high ranked all-seasons tires that would fit the 16" GT-S wheels.

I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but the Bridgestone Potenza RE950 and BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDWS both look like good choices.

I think 195/55-16, 205/50-16 or 205/55-16 tires would be the best fit.

The 205/55-16 would be a little bigger than the stock tires, but not much bigger.

In the long run do this.

this winter, get a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks from a place like www.tirerack.com or www.tires.com (they have local stores too)

Put them on your stock wheels, and then next summer get a new set of NICE wheels/tires in 17" or 18" ...

YOu just made your stock wheels your "winter" wheels.

And you will absolutely eat up the snow/ice. It is absolutely amazing the difference tires that are INTENDED for snow/ice will do.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Does anyone have personal experience with these tires in snow? How about rain and dry pavement? Are they noisy tires?

Thanks!

Those tires are really good in the snow. After driving being blown off the road with my summer tires in a drifting snowstorm, I went out and got them the next day. They make the car drivable during the winter and no longer a deathtrap. They really do what they say. They are also good in the rain and dry, but these are not high performance tires. Use them through the winter and then change out in the spring.

As far as changing wheels. I guess I might be nuts, but I love the way the stock wheels look. I just really like the shape.
