I don't mean this in a bad way, but I'm curious. I drove a GT-S when they first came out, and it was WAY peaky. It was like..
1000 RPM brr
2000 RPM brr
3000 RPM brr
4000 RPM brr
5000 RPM brrr
6000 RPM brrrr
6400 RPM brrrrr
6500 RPM BWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
6600 RPM brrrr
7000 RPM brrr
Seriously, I really didn't like the way it was. I'm guessing you guys have found a way to not make that worse when you modify the car with I/H/E which usually makes the power band even more narrow.
What do you guys do to flatten the torque curve and make it more broad?

Watch what you say. After your post in the Racing Forums section everything you say will be scrutinized; serious question or not. If you are the car guy you say you are, you know this answer

I'm gonna post even though I'm admitting ignorance but I'd say the big trick is holdin it in that narrow band by shiftin realllllllyyyyy fast. If you push it hard enough and shift fast you don't lose too many rpms. the launch is hella tricky though and very important I've noticed. And Dark Star is right after that bashin with NYoneway people are bound to get harsh.

Where did I rip on him or his Celica? Oh I didn't.
And like I said I'm curious, I want to know. I personally thought it was a bad design by Toyota, and I know that any more I/H/E narrows the powerband even more on most other cars. I didn't think the GT-S could handle it being even more narrow, so I was curious.

I assume you have to keep it on the boil when your pushing it. enjoy the peace and quiet when your not.

I love the structure of the powerband on the celica. I wish lift came in a little lower, but I can tool around town at 2k quietly driving, or I can frighten the little old lady as I buzz her house at full throttle, 8k of fury.
What I've found after the intake/exhaust mods, is that when i'm in the lower area, 3k or so, I can mash the throttle to the floor just to hear a nice low growl. Also having all of the torque and power at the high end, keeps things safe in rain/snow.
I would say our car is comprable to the s2000 or Integra Type R, very drivable around town, and a fury when driven at the limit and kept there.

yeah the S2000 has like zero power until you wring it out.. at least relative to what it's SUPPOSED to have.. the down low sucks on it.

Is there a way to combine this post with the one in performance mods? I see that Barwick posted the same question to both forums
