View Full Version : Water Slushing From the DASH!!!
It started about a month or so ago. When I start the car I hear this water slushing noise comming from the dash on the passenger side. It usually happens when I rev the engine up slowly to about 1800 rpms. It doesnt matter if I'm stopped or moving. It also doesnt seem to matter if the car is cold or warmed up, it keeps making the noise.
I took it to Toyota and they said that maybe it was coolent and they didn't want to fix it because I had a "modified intake", no butterfly valve.
Have any of you guys had a similar problem? I drive a 2000 celica GT-S w/about 34k miles.

I get that, too. I have about 40k miles. Not a clue what causes it, though.

Might be air bubbles trapped in the heater core. That would cause the slushing sound you hear.

Not a clue man, I've had that for about 15K miles already.. Toyota flushed my AC system twice and my coolant once.. not a change...
Yeah, the mechanic at Toyota said that it was possibly air bubbles in the coolant system. They recommended a coolant system flush. But I guess thats not going to work... I wonder what the problem is...

It is air in the cooling lines, typically the solution is to add coolant (particularly if you are getting higher in milage). My car started doing it around 30,000 miles, I checked the coolant at about 32,000 miles and it was below the "MIN" line (check it with a COLD engine, first thing in the morning). I topped off the coolant reservoir and the sound was gone by the next day.

Scott,
I checked the coolant and it was like yours, below the low indicator. I filled it up and the noise is gone! Thanks for the advise.

Might want to call up and tell the dealership that they are jerks for not fixing it since it had nothing to do with your intake...and technically they broke the law.

Oddly - this is common to all production Celica's that haven't yet had the coolant topped up. Both of mine, and 3 on the lot I tested. :)
GlubGlub... yep - the water pump works. :)
