View Full Version : Info on the TRD supercharger, Not good!

I emailed the help line on the TRD website about their supercharger for the 1.8 here is what I got back:

At this time the supercharger for the 1zz engine will only be available for
the 03 Matrix and 03 Corolla. There are several factors that interfere with
the installation on the Celica GT, one being the clearence issue with the
hood. From our testing you would have to cut a 13" by 15" hole in the hood
to beable to fit the supercharger. By altering the hood it actually makes
your vehicle out of warranty with Toyota since you are altering a DOT
approved hood. This is the reason why we can not release it for the Celica
at this time. Please try back around September or October and see where we
are at on this.

So this leads me to ask, are there any kinds of raised hoods or cowl induction hoods for the celica that would fit the supercharger, I am sure that there would be a big interest in them if there was.

bumb in my hood . . .? it works on dsm's, but it wouldnt look right on celi's. but then again, to be blown is a wonderful thing :burnout:

Maybe they can release it as Kazuma or you can modify the Corolla SC to fit.

Considering all of TRD's worthwhile products involve body styling a new type of hood would certainly be out of the question, right?

Yeah "TRD Smoked raised hood w/ real TRD srickers" PRICE $1,000.

Uhmmm and I'm sure they can fit an SC in there if they tried.

Well you see they wouldn't have had this problem if they had just designed it around the Celica in the first place. Instead they needed prodding from Pontiac just to make it for the Vibe/Matrix.

yeah, ain't this cool news from TRD, i email them every couple weeks about the celica just to iritate the Sh@t out of them. Sh@t like, oh supercharger for the corolla, it's coming out for the celica right? dumbasses. i wouldn't drive a corolla if the b@itch came with a twin turbo. it's phucking grannymobile.

what about that vis invader hood with the giant 2nd scoop? would it let the s/c fit? it should still install fine since the engine is laid out mostly the same.

DSMs have the bump in the hood to clear the timing belt cover, not any type of turbo or anything. If someone wanted a TRD s/c bad enuf for the 1.8 they could adapt this kit to work. Its just a matter of having a custom hood made.
