I was checking out the March '02 issue of Motor Trend where they did a little comparison on the EVO VII and the O.Z Rally Lancer.
According to the article, Mitsubishi announced that the EVO VII WILL NOT be detuned and will come with the 276hp (300+hp in reality) 4G63 engine. The price will be around $30,000 U.S. dollars. :( But that price isn't going to discourage me. I'm still getting one.;)

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII:
Mitsubishi is serious about bringing its Lancer rivalry with the Subaru Impreza WRX Stateside. Dubbed Evolution VII, the twin-turbocharged road rocket is offered in Japan for a mere $21,000-$25,000. Overseas, the Evo VII packs 280 horsepower, race-bred five-speed transmission, massive Brembo brakes, all-wheel drive, active yaw control, lightweight aluminum body pieces, Recaro seats, Momo steering wheel, and titanium interior trim. Expect the U.S. version to sacrifice a few horses to meet California emissions, putting output in the 260-270 hp range.

OK IF i had waited to get my GT-S 2 weeks ago.... and thats a big IF, i still dont know if i could stretch my payments for the EVO VII.
I got 320 on my payments now AND I LOVE MY CELICA , another 5 or 6 grand to finance is allot .... although i could of saved for a mear 4 more months or so to get those payments down. I dont know why im sayin this maybe it is that i might be scared if a EVO reved up on me on the streets, ........ well lets just say i will give him a thumbs up with a smile and back down on the race he wanted (unless i get that BLITZ supercharger hehehe).
Its gonna be a great car, but i think with the price at 30,000 instead of 25,000 you will see less young peeps ownin the car. Wich in my opinion i like.
my 2 cents

The Evo VII comes with a Titanium Alloy Turbo which sometimes is referred by it's acronym "TT" so I think the person who wrote that article saw the TT in the specs and confused that with Twin Turbo. Or maybe even saw that the Galant VR-4 has a twin turbo and screwed it up that way. who knows.
I like this bodyit a lot

Those website articles are just "future telling" articles. It is based on rumor and they update the rumors when new info is unvieled at the auto show.

Autoweek said a couple of weeks ago that we would get the Evo VIII, for whatever that is worth. Facelift, minor improvement all around...

Mitsubishi is aiming for a price under $30K. We won't find out how much the EVO will be sold for until maybe 2-4 months before sell date.
If they say its gonna be under $30,000 it very well could be BUT THEY CAN PUT IT AT $29,000 and still say "well its under $30,000 as you like it" . Not to mention the stupid little "accessories" they will throw on the vehicle adding up the price, and also the tax title , and licence! I would bet you couldnt get one under $31,000 or $32,000 after all that crap. And keep in mind allot of peeps could say there getting one BUT, when they get in that dealership (unless they got a connection) there gonna walk back out that door without it, thinkin they can get it under $30,000. Hell I would love to get that Rx-8 if they get that 250 hp there talkin about out of that rotary motor .... but its gonna start at $30,000 ..... thats allot of cash. I LOVE MY CELICA..... ITS PERFECT to satisfy my adrenalline needs. There are not to many people that can buy a $30,000 dollar car ...... but thats a good thing , you wont see rice boys makin it all cheesy lookin.
The rice boys will buy the lancer O.Z model, get the eveolution kit , and try to rev on everybody LMAO.
They probably have EVO stickers on there car just like the TYPE R stickers. TRUST ME YOU WILL SEE THEM LOL!

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
Subaru WRX owners beware: the Lancer Evolution VII is officially coming to America in January 2003. Typically referred to as the "Evo," Mitsubishi's hot-rod Lancer is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Visually set apart from other mundane Lancers by a more aggressive front fascia, hood vents, larger wheels, and a rear wing, the Evo VII may look tame, but its capabilities are anything but. Powered by a turbocharged inline-four that produces 276 horsepower (the U.S. version will have around 250), the VII features an electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system, an active center differential, active yaw control, and Sport ABS, which monitors the steering wheel angle to reduce understeer when cornering. Other rally-inspired tidbits include a Momo steering wheel, Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, and 17-inch OZ wheels wearing 235/45ZR-17 Yokohama Advan tires. When it comes to our shores, expect a price between $25,000 - $30,000.
