Alright the race is set up for this friday. I have 6-speed gts AEM CAI, TRD exhaust, B&M shorthrow, TRD helica LSD, Blitz Active Clutch. He has civic ex greddy turbo kit, tanabe exhaust running like 8 psi. What are my chances?

really depends how well the car is tuned.. im not sure about the EX but I know the SI turbo is no joke especially up top..

Ex's are like mid 16 stockers in the 1/4. With turbo they hit a good 15. Depends on tuning but I'd say you got a good shot even up top. With your clutch and LSD you should definately pull a few cars off the start and with the top end you should be able to hold on unless he is really going.

From what I've seen on Clubsi a turbo EX is about as fast as an Si with I/H/E. I guess that would be around low 15's then.

Shouldn't be much of a problem for you, boosted EX's aren't that fast unless built.

I feel pretty confident that i can win. I used to be able to beat my friends si with intake, type-r head package with cams, 6 puck clutch and v-afc pretty regularly and I only had intake and exhaust at the time. So I will keep you updated on saturday morning on the outcome. Wish me luck.

You'll beat him. I have seen a similar race...95ex turbo vs. 2001 GT-S...GT-S got him.

Nothing to worry about.

unless they are tube frame, civic's are slow. you should know that by now  I have yet to see a civic that can compete with any kind of power adder here in KS. My friend with a intake/exhaust MR2 turbo beat a i/h/e/p civic si, and guess what, he SKIPPED 3rd gear because his syncro is shot. So from 2nd, he went to 4th and still beat the **** out of this thing. My friend with a 96 Mustang GT Auto beat a turbo ex, with me, him, and a friend all in the car... I have come to the conclusion I will never see a fast civic except in magazines.

You guys need a Civic guy here ... GReddy turbo Civic EX is set to 5.5psi w/o intercooler

Civic EX with that will pull an SI ALL DAY ... unless he is F&F granny, double clutching :D

low 15's? maybe on 5.5psi but most guys are runnign 7psi. That's easily 14's. On 10psi, the Civic EX is low14's and 13's with good tires/clutch

I merely state facts, no flaming

Of course the MR2 can take a bolt-on SI, it's no contest. However, some guys have hit 14's (which is rare)

Never seen a fast Civic? Hmmm ... I can show you some

what does your "fast" civic run? Because it had better be below 12's to put a hurtin on me.

Theres is A LOT of fast civics here in Toronto, the sickest one I've seen so far was gun metal and he had a turboed frankenstein setup. I sayhe was very fast indeed

seriously.. civics can be made to go really fast.. give em some props.. btw maztur.. thanks for the info.. i was curious myself how a boosted ex would do..

vis-celica: if you have that LSD, you should practice launching like a bat out of hell. you should be able to run low 14s with that setup (meaning you could probably take an EX @ 8psi). make sure you have no extra weight in there.

Man... how'd you ever find that forum?!?! I think I might have started that place up. LMAO. A couple years ago I started a site called Turbo D16 on the ezboards. But I stopped going there or maintaining it soon after. Hrm. Wonder if it's the same place. Looks like it.

Anyway has this race happened yet? My guess would be that you would walk him fairly easily if he's running stock boost. The EX with the GReddy kit on stock boost generally puts down 135-145 whp or ~160-170 crank. Cat-back will probably put him in the 180 crank range. Your GT-S is probably making slightly more power and obviously putting it down better w/ the LSD. Weight-wise you're probably in the same range. Now if he's running a tuned 8 psi (which would require a FP upgrade), then I'd say he'd walk you. But if he's trying to run 8psi on the stock fuel setup, I'd say you'd win 'cause he's probably going to blow his motor.

The Civics around here... well, all the owners are cocky, ignorant dumbasses, so thats why i dont like them. Added to the fact I have NEVER seen a fast one out here yet. I saw a 13.5 out of a 90 HB, totally stripped, on slicks... that does not impress me.
Heh, well if it is 3sgte powered, it is either the Celica All-Trac, or an MR2 Turbo :)

there was a guy in new york city who was a street racer who ran like 10.5 his second run down the track in full street trim im pretty sure he still holds the record for a street legal civic....he drove it to the track. He did have alot of money into the thing, but if you think about it, you can build a 400hp GSR engine for about 7 grand, you can get a 90HB body with no engine in it off of autotrader for almost nothing, and then the wheels and all tht other tranny stuff might set you back another 3 or 4 grand depending on what tranny you go with, so its really not that much money. I personally think the civic is a pretty impressive car when its all decked out, but there arent enough of them and most are just rice, sux that they get a bad name cause of that.

There are plenty of Civics around my way that none of you guys in this thread would want to race.

Whether they're NA or FI, those cars can run 11s or 12s all day and being daily driven.

IF you've never seen a fast Civic you just need to stop staying online like a nerd and go out more.

ok this was my only illegal race expereince, and it was a huge sting. but heres the case. this fox body mustang, sick sick sick car. musta had a big block stoked in it, with some big ass cams, i think i memeber hearing blower also( stripped, roll cage, all gages) . he was kicken everyones ass up and down the street. then this 93 blue civic hatch pulls up next to him to race. you could hear the cams, and the fact that it was running open header. not flashy. it came in from miami. the stang had to have been running 11's-------had to be. and this civc kick the living S@#t outa that mustang, i was in shock. that civic was fast as a mother. i never seen a civc so fast, he got the launch on the stang, neither pealed out a whole lot, and...... he beat him top end also, the mustang was never in the lead.

Asking about turbo EX's? :)

My personal best this far:

60' 2.29 <-- stock P185/60R14 Firestones!!
1/8 9.507
14.28 @ 100.20 mph

Given somewhat decent tires and *some* kind of grip, 13.8's should be the norm given the 100mph trap. This is on 10psi on a GReddy kit BTW. Just giving you some comparitive numbers ;)

I have respect for the Civic, I have never encountered one that is superfast but I know they can be made fast. I have thought about getting one and building it up but I have neither the time nor money for something like that right now. I was just saying what I had seen on ClubSI that a turbo EX is about as fast as an SI.

LOL!! yea well, it's ClubSi, I mean what did you expect ;) Outside of F.I. or nitrous, even a heavily built NA B16 is spitting out near 200whp, which is about where i'm at with my stock EX on the GReddy.. besides, i'm sure you guys have been to the track and have witnessed many Si's out there, how often do you see an Si pull a 14 much less a low 14 without the help of F.I. or NOS? I know I never have, and I've got a nice fat stack of timeslips to prove #1- the validity of my times and #2- the amount of time I've spent at the track ;)

ROFLMAO never seen a fast civic? Hmmm, let me think, last I was at the track (long ass time ago) there where to many civics running low 12's or 11's N/A, turbo ones hitting similar times or faster. I think the fastest was a low 10. Oh yes, I have movies and pics to prove it already posted! www.bakersfieldstreetracing.com come check us out, BOTI might have had something to do with the appearance of all this super civics, but hey that's besides the point....so for you Slade Templar I lead you on a path to find the "fast civics, hehehe
