Ok, so I have to have my inside door panels replaced cuz my car got broken into. I went to the dealer and they put in my VIN # and ordered the panels, well I went yesterday to pick them up and they end up being like this: the inside handle is black leather but the "patch" on the middle of the door is "cloth" like with that netting that the celica GT has on the seats. My celica is a GTS with leather, I bought the car from them from the lot, it has black leather handle and black leather "patch". They even called CAT (Central Atlantic Toyota) and they told them that the panel they ordered is the only one offered.....

Does this make any sense?
n e one have had something like this happen to them? I'm going to the dealership Friday to show them my original panel, so they can see that I'm not nuts.....

XYRCNCP, no, it doesn't make any sense to me that Toyota would only offer the one style of door panel when the car comes with two different styles. How reputable is this dealership? I mean, are you sure that they actually did call Central Atlantic Toyota, or is it possable that they are just feeding you a line of B.S. because they don't want to go to the trouble of sending the panel back and getting the right one?

If they really do only offer the one panel, I have two suggestions. One suggestions is for you to get your money back for the panel and buy on out of a junkyard that has the leather covering on the side. If thats not possable, I would suggest that you rip out the fabric one and have some one recover it with leather.

This dealer IS reputable, I know the owner, the parts manager and the finance manager, and they KNOW me, I failed to say, they know the panel comes with all leather, they just cant believe CAT tells them that. I'm going today so it should be resolved quickly, as for the patch is "stuffed" into a groove of the panel, is not like is easily removable, but bottom line, yeah I'll ask for the money back.

Doesn't make sense, they should have them stocked somewhere with leather. Contact David D and he should be able to give you the low-down on parts available. You would think that by giving them your VIN that they would know exactly what you need. Only ? I have is, do the 2002s come with leather there?

On a similar note: My brother got me the OEM lower grill for X-mas and the dealer he was at insisted that it wouldn't fit the 2000. "They will only fit the 2002, and may need a lot of modification to fit" Needless to say he got it anyway and told me about the parts guy's comments after I put it on in 15 min.

I also had a door panel replaced, only to find that the wrong door panel was put in.

There are two different door panels with different part numbers. The one that your dealer installed was for cars that don't have leather.

The Toyota parts system seems to be at fault here, because I watched as the part number was looked up. There was only one shown that we could see--and that was the wrong one.

My repair invoice shows a part number: 67610-2G781-C1
I think, though, that this is the non-leather panel.

I remember posting a note on NC.org, and having someone respond with the correct part number for the panel that matched the leather package. I can't find that number.

Sorry I can't be of more help--specifically, getting you the right number--but can confirm that there are two different part numbers for the door panels. The part number for the door panel for cars with the leather package was NOT listed on the parts computer my dealer initially used, and I had to go in with the part number reported on NC.org.

Glad to hear you found the right number. Yes, please do post it, as I need to add that to my records. I think I have another door panel in my future :-(
