Well, I just got my car back from the shop today at Noon. I was driving it home from work and my temp gauge went straight to hot and started flashing. The radiator busted and shot coolant directly onto my intake, it sucked it right up like water and locked my motor. It's sitting on the curb right now, waiting to get towed. I haven't driven it in over a month since it's been getting cosmetic work done, now who knows if I'll ever drive it again :(

Whoa. Was it the shop's fault? What were they doing?

Nah, it happened after I got it back from the shop...apparently the nipple on the back of the radiator (plastic) cracked off into the hose and sprayed. That's all I know right now

Wow, that is just one of those things that you can't do ANYTHING to prevent it really, unless you just haven't been servicing your car like you should...but if that isn't the case, you might be able to get the engine work done under warranty, if you are still under warranty...good luck.

Except for that whole, "your car wouldn't have hydrolocked if you had your stock airbox" thing that they could use as a reason not to do it under warranty.
If they are nice they will honor it because it never would have happened if that part hadn't failed.
This brings new meaning to all show... Hope you get your go back!

I think the real sad thing is that when/if he takes it to a dealer and they work on it, chances are that they are going to mess things up. I know from experience that having a fiberglass front at a dealer is not a good idea.

Damn, that story was rather freaky. Hopefully they will cover the repairs.

Nah, it's not going to the dealer. I'm way out of warrentee on my car. It's at a friends shop now getting looked at. If you look under your hood on the driver side (about where the driver side hood pin would go) There is a hose that runs from the resevior to the radiator. Where it goes into the radiator, there is a nipple the hose plugs around w/ a clamp. That area around the nipple is what busted.
It was those damn labo doors, they are the root of all evil.

No, he has an Octane front on the car according to his sig. And yes, that is a fiberglass front, they don't make the Octane front in fiberglass and I have seen the bumper in person when it was on my friend Mike's car right before he sold it to PhatCelly...
So yes, it is a fiberglass bumper...

My mechanic got the motor to finally start!!! He said it just to a few days for the motor to "dry out".... At first it wouldn't do anything, next day it would crank and then finally the next day it tuned over! Looks like all I'll have to do is replace the radiator, so she'll be back on the road hopefully by the end of the week.
