Sorry that I'm making my own threat instead of sifting through....

I was going to turbo my car, with a friend who has an integra...we were just goign to buy a turbo off the interenet, get an intercooler, and piping, and try to do it ourselves, I don't know tons about turbos obviously...

So I was trying to figure out what exactly I need to do before getting on the road to turboing

I so far have gathered that I don't need an intake

But that I do need:
Exhaust (TRD)
Suspension
Tires

is that all I need to do before turboing, and how impotant is the suspension, can I get away with not doing that?

So what parts exactly do I need to buy along with the turbo, and what model turbo do you suggest I get? What psi should i be running like 6?

Well, any help pointing me in the right direction is appriciated, btw i have a stock 00 gt stick

Lol, you guys crack me up, of course it's not going to be a cheap endevor...I was figuring on spending about $1500

I was thinking of just buying a used turbo...like go steal one off a car at a junk yard or something...that's why I'd like to think this wouldn't be the most expensive thing, unlike most of you, I am just a poor highschooler looking to get a little bang for his buck and has to go the poor mans route, though it's not always the best

i think u r gonna end up spending more than 1500 when u end up fukin up your whole engine. while u steal the turbo, make sure u steal the manifold too!! Should bolt right on!!

Check out the DD turbo man, its 3600 (i have a big feeling you drive an auto) theres been two years of R&D and alot of money spent on it. If you were going custom expect to pay the amount of your car or more for all the tuning and problems that will arise

My car isn't auto...the DD turbo kit that he's making is with a brand new turbo from the TT, could I get everything except the tt turbo from him? Why won't you guys help me? Well what ever, I give up, I'll find a way myself

DD would be the one to speak to about getting only parts of his kit. As far as helping goes, most people here have been waiting for years for a good full turbo kit to come along so we wouldn't have to get involved with the expense and risk of a custom job. Now after all this time there is one and talking about trying to do it all yourselves with no experience trivializes the difficulty of such an endeavor with this car.

I am sure all of us who aren't in school anymore remember what it was like but you have to consider that if you can't afford to do it the right way then what will you do if something goes wrong.

Lol, if something goes wrong ill just...total my car and have insurance pay for a new one 0:-D (pssh, actually, i would just go without a car) anyways, so you think id just be better off runni like a 50 shot of nos?

Yes either the nitrious or just get the kit, wheather you get a used turbo or not it's going to end up cheaper if you just get the kit then make your own custom one. Do a search or go through ALL 22 pages of the DD turbo post, I sat down with a some chips and a soda and went through the thing in less then an hour, I'm not saying it makes me an expert, but you'll get alot of infomation out of it.

hahahah $1500??? Sorry to laugh but you do not know first thing you need on the turbo... What about the turbo manifold? without that turbo would not even spin, what about all the pippings? Custom turbo manifold would cost you about that $1500!!! There is so much stuff you need, get a professional to do it for you if you want to boost your car there is alot of things you will need. Like bigger injectors, piggyback computer to give more fuel to engine. Whole complete fuel system with return fuel line and bigger pump as well as fuel pressure regulator and lets not forget to modify fuel rail... Adding a breather... all the lines you need to add....
It cost me $15,000 to complete a custom job expect to spend well into $10,000 for custom setup that will run correctly, do not do a K-Mart job that will only kill your engine.

Someone obviously has a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG way to go into getting anything turbo related.

I think first off, you should do an internet research on how turbos work and what you need for a complete turbo kit. Then try to somehow multiply that $1500 you got by about 4.

Well, listen. It seems to me like you have a very long way with turbo's. First of all you need to learn how a turbo charger works so that you can understand what's going on. Sometimes it is not as simple as buying a turbo, some tubes and installing it. If it was like that, everybody would have a turbo.

To understand how a turbo works you can oo to howstuffworks.com and search for turbo's to start with. After that you can come and talk to some people here for advise on what's out there for your car. At this point DD is the person to speak with since he is coming out with one for our celicas. But there are other people such as cool2miketlu that also have turbo celicas.

Good luck in your reading!!!
