Will 225/45-17s on a 17x8 rim work on a GT-S? I know they're not ideal because of the larger diameter, but it would only be temporary. Would there be any interference problems, assuming stock ride height?

Just make sure you can mount a 225 on a 17x8 wheel. As for the 225, it will have no clearence issue on a celica with stock suspension. I have that on my car.

Thanks. They're already mounted, so that's not a problem.
Any comment on the 225/45-17 size as far as performance goes? I see some people saying it's fine, others saying it will screw up the gearing.

Performance wise...hmmm...that's a debateble (sp) one...
I autox with my 17 volks, granted they aren't your run of the mill 17s that are very heavy, 17s just isn't good for a car like ours with so little power. But I've been doing ok with the 17s. Haven't really noticed any gearing problems.

I have 225/45/17 on my car. My rim size is 17x7.5 and the offset is +30 and I have no problems.

Well, "screw up" is subjective. The taller tire means taller effective gearing...Generally, I wouldn't consider that a good thing...especially on a car with a super-narrow powerband.
