A friend of mine has a Lexus ES300 with 90K miles on it. Her CEL light came on the other day, so she took it to the dealer. The dealer said she has a bad throttle position sensor.
Questions:
What does this do?
What will start happening since it has gone bad?
Is a new one easily installed yourself?
Lexus says its $250 for the part plus installation.

If she can afford a lexus, she can afford to have them fix it. :)

I work at a Lexus dealership. What were the codes exactly? Just a TPS? I will ask my bro and see what he says.
TPS senses when u are at WOT (wide open throttle) and when ur not, also senses the pedals location and amount of fuel to add to air/fuel mixture.

Apparently just a TPS. I guess the question is it an easy swap for the new part (husband is very mechanically inclined), and i guess an installation instruction would help too...

The TPS sensor on my 95 GS-R went out and since you can't replace it alone on an Integra, I had to buy the whole throttle body with it connected. $700!! Apparently Honda has it's position preset on the TB that read .5v at WOT and if you mess with it it goes outta wack, they put some rivets on it instead of screws so people can't take it off. Consider your friend lucky if she's only paying 250 bucks ;)
