This was unbelievable. For $39 i got to test drive the new Mazda 6. It was a good day to race. The first time around the course i got a 27.xxx, then second time was a 26.xxx. It was a great experience to get to test drive like a sort of pro. The best was the guy who got kicked out for running totally off course. I hope to have some pics up later this week. If anyone was there post your date and time.

It was indeed fun...somehow I wished I didn't drink as much the night before so I didn't have a damn hangover at the event. But then again I can't complain about the fun I had that night...
So at the event, after my frist run which was 24.2xx clean (then I had to go puke...sorry, TMI), but second run I hit 3 cones so I didn't bother looking at the time. Don't care for the time because it wasn't competitive for me to get upset at myself for not being in the state of wellness...hehehe
Got to test drive the Miata 6sp towards the end of the day and boy was it fun...definitely would think of picking up one later to race with...
Then there was the cheesy go-karts. They were $hit slow but racing with 5 other friends were damn fun...but then the rest of the people that was running with us couldn't drive for their life, kept spinning out and one guy even t-boned his friend and the guy's helmet flew off...sigh...
Overall, the event was fun. I give Mazda a two thumbs up for putting the even together. 2 suggestions though. 1. TOO many damn cones!!! I'm used to seeing less cones!!! 2. You want us to go faster?!? Then don't bitch about us hitting cones!!! It's a competition, remember?

Damn, you guys got screwed on the course lenght. I ran 30.5 seconds, and the pro index was 28.5. I finished with like 568 points or so - enough for 71/1971. I could've done better if I knew how to drive an automatic. My god that thing was slow, and the throttle response was awful.
It was a pretty good event. $39 worth, no, but it was fun. The driver education part was useless, because it's hard to learn much in the blink of an eye. But, it was done well considering they had to cater to lots of people of all skill levels.
They say they are doing it again next year, with a different car. My guess is the new 3, but I don't know when that is supposed to come out.

http://www.transamgta.com/MessageBoard/images/smilies/damnit.gif They didn't have any of these events remotely close to my area. That would have been fun.
