You can't transfer plates? Here in wisconsin they have plates at the desk at the dmv when you register a new vehicle too...

Nah thats not the case. I could have gotten a 2004 at the same price as the 2003 and I just prefer the looks of the 2003 more now. I think the old ones grew on me over the past few years and the new headlights/fogs just look so camry to me :) or something of that nature. I had this opinion before I was even in the market for a new car and was planning on having the celica even longer.
Oh well

Because people are tired of only looking fast :chuckles: Looks are subjective you get full boost in stock form at 32-3500 rpm and AWD launches are the sh1t not to mention fun in the snow, rain, and dirt. In stock form they are slow from a roll and gearing kills them in 4th and 5th but add 800$ to it and you got a decent monster that can hang with a Z28 6 Spd from a stop. Even from a roll the Z28 will pull but not with authority. Hard to say that about the celica.

Thats only because he would have had to run you off the road to keep pulling. And I'm still waiting on a actual light line up.

It was nervous sweat we were a mere inch away from your bumper and nick was screaming "I'm eating ya boy!!! I'm eating ya!!!" and then there was the I'm going to run that rex off the road look in his eyes. I'll say we were pretty jumpy. Theres no way he can do a good easy roll run in second until he gets the skip shift killer.

Yeah but the things I say about your car are probs with mechanics (Gm cars suck ballz) You are just trying to get back at me because my celica was faster than your V8.

Just like you can't begin to tell me how reliable GMs are. At least in my case it was because I didn't own them that long not because the engine locked up on me.

I can tell you that one wasn't. My firebird had 145k on it with no problems my uncles camaro has over 300k with no problems. roll of the dice with used cars. You should know that even if you never owned one.
F22-Raptor
08-06-2003, 09:09 AM
So you found one person that has had no probs. I can find you more than 100 people that have had 500k with no probs and 100 people that have had Subarus for 500+ k with no probs However when even Nick admits that he would never own a Corvette because of the probs they have, that is saying something.
F35-JSF
08-06-2003, 09:20 AM
I could name off more but thats not the point. The cars can last if you take care of them. I imagine those 600 people took good care of there car (babied) and stuck with it even when things were tough. I wonder when the last time they took that 500k mile car to redline? My madre's subaru constantly died for one reason or another and it was babied by my step dad who worked on cars.
And nick was a little hurt that a vette appeared at the dealer ship after he bought the z28 (which isn't far off from a vette) He can't hate vettes that much.
F22-Raptor

Thats what he told me. Babying will help to a certain extent. But doesn't help a shoddy design. You mother got a lemon it happens.

i couldnt care about speed, its not everyday that you're driving 100mph down the street. I had my share of speeding tix, and once you grow out of it you realize just how stupid speeding really is.
have fun with your little rocket while you still dont care

Add me to the list. Traded my 01 GTS in yesterday for an 04 WRX Wagon. So far, I must admit, I'm a little dissapointed, but I had to do it, cuz im taking 3 of my kids to school on the way to work this year. It just doesn't seem to handle anything like the Celi, and I feel like I'm riding in an suv the thing feels so high. I'm not happy with the power either, although I've been keepin' it under 5k until I get some miles on it. it doesn't feel as fast as my GTS. Maybe it will get better when it's broke in.

TO be honest, Zack...when I first bought my Subie, I wasn't impressed at all..that's one of the reasons I haven't really paid too much attention to it. Regardless of it's aftermarket potential, as a car..it's simply too reserved and unweildy to be much fun stock. Which mine still is, simply because I've been putting it all into the 7. Don't expect too much power after 5,000 either...I believe either 5,200 or 5,400 is where the boost dies depending on what gear you're in.
The car needs lowering, better springs and shocks, sway and strut bars before it'll compare to the Celica's handling, and even then, I think it'll be hard pressed to compete.
Remember what I said in the chat last night...watch out over 80mph because it feels like a boat.
Once you get some mods on it, though..it'll wake up a bit, so don't be too disheartened..it's very quick from a stop, and since you have a 04, you can do some really hard launches because that new clutch will feather it for ya.
The car is just a really good foundation for a kick azz ride..put some money in it, and it'll be different.

I prefer the EVO's these days because of their handling out of the box, and the big 16g turbo stock. :)
its nice to have another popular awd turbo car other then the dsm though...about time there was some competition.

u get crankwalk? big deal.. u can get a 2g gsx for 7-8k.. if it walks on u.. u can get a stock motor for a grand.. fully built prob 2k+.. and that still dotn amount to how much a wrx, evo, or celica cost.. yet it looks better than all of em and smoke all of em :)

I had to have 4 doors. Could get a Scooby for invoice thru my company plan, but not an STI (exlcuded). No plan with Mitsu for the Evo, so I would'a paid sticker, and that ain't happenin'. Got the 04 Rex w/ turbo gauge and the rear mirror thingie for $22.9 before tax & tags.
Darkstar, did you paint your stock rims black? Have them powdercoated? How'd you do it? I got a white one, too.

Hey Zack add an up pipe a Downpipe and A catback exhaust and a mbc to the car and you got a completely different car..Stock it is hindered by the cats, etc but do those few things costing me about 800$ and all the sudden the car wakes up.. You wont be sorry. The WRX is a really fun car and AWD rocks.
It's starting to grow on me already. Especially when I dropped the kids off at school today and didn't have to get intimate with my steering wheel and dash to do so. I think I'm just frustrated cuz I can't 'get on it' yet, at least until I get closer to break in. I'm already getting tingly with the modding goodness I hear about.
I know I should be asking this stuff on a scooby board, but I'm not registered yet, so-
The car only had 9 miles on it when I got in, its got 100+ now, and it seems to 'lope' at idle, like it's either got an aggressive factory cam setup, or, dare say, it's skipping a little already. Is this normal?
Also, it seems to get really hot under the hood. My alternator was so hot yesterday I couldn't touch it, and it shouldn't have been under load. Maybe it's breaking in. Dunno.
***Found out about the rough idle. Sounds like it's typical of boxer engines. Reminds me of my '68 Chevelle in high school. I do like the deep exhaust note stock. Much deeper than my GT-S.
