I've lately noticed that when I accelerate or travel at speeds over 50 mph, I notice a buzzing noise coming from the left passenger air vent. Anyone know what this could be or how to fix it?

I had a buzz coming from that area when I would drive around 4K RPM. Turned out that the buzz was coming from the driver's side A pillar. Had some foam installed in there while some other service work was being done. The dealer could also produce the problem in the passenger side pillar as well.

I also had a buzz that sounded like it was coming from behing the center air vents. Dealer fixed that problem by tightening things up in the center console area, and putting some foam behind it.

My dealer has had pretty good luck nailing buzzes in the dash area. Now if I could just get them to fix the passenger door buzz. AUUUUGGGGHHH!

Anyway, check to see if your noise isn't coming from that air pillar instead of the vent.

Good luck...

Think of the "A pillars" as the sides of your windshield. My rattle was coming from the interior plastic on the A pillar, near the bottom where it fits against the top of the dashboard.

As for the rattles coming from the dash--mine were coming from behind the center console. The fix, which was taken care of by my dealer, was to pull off the center console, put in some foam, and reattach the console.

I have the same thing. It's actually the left rear view side mirror. It's listed in Toyota's service bulletins. Check it out here: http://www.alldata.com/TSB/59/00597897.html

It's item #30. Just go to a dealer and they'll insert a weather strip there.

LoCore, who is your dealer? Mine down in Longmont has not been very responsive to my complaints about rattles - "we can't duplicate it". It might be worth a drive up there.

Anyone have any pictures of where the dash/ center console buzzes come from? I can't locate exactly where mine is coming from.

I thought my buzz was coming from the plastic grid you can see behind the two center air vents. When I heard the buzz, if I pressed on that "grid", the buzz went away.

The fix the dealer did was to remove the central panel, and to put in foam behind it. I'm not aware of any changes he did to the "grid".

apray: sorry I never responded to you--I lost track of this thread until celicatalk posted recently. I go to Pedersen Toyota in Fort Collins.

I, too, hear occasional buzzing noises from the dash at cruising speeds. I'm just too lazy to do anything about it and that is what separates a Toyota from the pillowy Lexuses (and Scions, unfortunately). That, and this is a sports car, not a pillow, so I'll live w/ it. Just curious if there a lot more others out there experiencing the same.

What type of foam are you using?
