Ok, 99% of the time, I'm actually within the speed limit. Sunday morning, no cops, let me let loose a little, since I haven't in so long.
What happens? Oh look! A State trooper!
I got a speeding ticket for going 92 in a 55 mph area.
This is in NY by the way.
Can anyone shed some light on consequences, etc.? Any help and information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Check the sticky in the racing forum.......but I'm with everyone here......almost 40 over is pretty much reckless driving. You're gonna need a REALLY good defense.

don't you guys have traffic attorneys in NY? i have been using one here in FL for almost 7 years now, he's got me out of every single ticket, from racing on the hwy to speeding 72 on a 35 and everything else in between...

Damn!!! 92mph on a 55 mph area. Yeah right, good luck buddy, not unless ur Governor Gray Davis who had a motorcade in the blood alley clocked by a CHP doing 94mph on a 55 mph and got away with it.

is the ticket for excessive speed or reckless driving or what?? excessive speed is 6 points on ur license so it wont get suspended but your insurance will go up a lot. but if its reckless driving im pretty sure thats 8 points and ur license can be suspended from 3 months to however long they want. if this is your second or third offense just say bye to your license right now.

I was thinking the same thing! I have friend who would've have enough points to lose their licences for life if it wasn't for traffic attorneys lol.

from what i've read, fighting tickets in NY is useless. they have this sham that their traffic court is a seperate affair and pretty much just for show. but since i don't live in NY i didnt absorb all the details (and don't quote me on what i've said).
that ticket will cost you 8 points on your license.
do a web search or call an attorney HERE (http://www.motorists.org/Attorneys/newyork.html). they usualy offer free advice on the phone. also check out this site (http://www.notspeeding.com).

ur gunna loose your licence for a minimum of 1 month. max is 12 i think but the really sh!tty part is that u will need to be on SR-22 insurance for 2 years which is just over double what you are paying now if its anything like mine. my advice - fight the ticket b4 u pay it

Better off writing it out as per sticky in the racing forum. The cop is going to coming saving any emergency. He has got nothing to lose or prove since you were going that fast when you were clocked.
