Well after having problems with toyota replacing my syncros because of problems with the clutch I decided to trade it in. I had problems with the clutch not totally disengaging (which I complained about many times to 3 different dealers in my area and none would do anything about it till the 1st and 2nd syncros went) well I had to FIGHT with toyota to get them to replace the syncros and I had to replace the clutch. which sucked.. WELL they should have done 3rd and 4th as well and didn't. NOW the clutch is right and first and second are GREAT. Third and Forth are going. And I started the WHOLE fight over again. so now its gone. There are somethings I will REALLY miss about the car I it was the funnest car I have ever owned even with the clutch problems. Lift, can anyone say enough about it? it was just felt so great to be in lift and keep it there through 3rd or 4th. LOOKS wow.. one of the best LOOKING cars on the road (IMHO). smaller things like the 30 seconds of power after the car was off. cup holders were in a bad place but they held big ass cups. FUN to drive boy was it ever. But with 35000 miles on it even though I think if 3rd and 4th syncros were replaced it would have fixed the last of the problems with my car (other than the syncros the car has been amazing in reliablity). I decided because the car is also a target for HATERS that I needed to get something A little less uh.. FLASHY. the car was also Keyed 3 times. so my insurance was getting on me. AND no it wasn't because of enemies. all the Keyings happened in completely different states.. only one happened in the area I live in. and Economics made me finish it off the Spec is much cheaper for me about a 100 a month cheaper.
So onwards to a small comparison. YES the Celica has NOTHING to worry about from the Spec V in straight line level speed. The Celica is the faster car. The spec isn't geared right to really be a big threat. But in a canyon racing (handling) the Spec can hold its own pretty nicely. the Interior of the Celica is nicer setup and better to look at but the Spec has a better quaility to the interior IE not so easy to scratch. And even though the red seats are weird to look at they are actually more comfortable than the Celicas. The stereo (audio fanatics package) is much better in the spec. TORQUE what can you say about it. the SPEC has it at low RPM and the car always feels strong in any gear even in 6th at 60 the car picks up very nicely. and the LSD kicks some pretty serious ass.. I Know there are faster cars by far than the Spec V but since I am trying to move it was best for me to get something a little "cheaper" and still have that new car feel. and it is a fun car in its own right "ALMOST" as fun as the Celica but for now it meets my need better..
