Hey!! I'm happy to announce that after my fiancee's brother had wrecked her 2000 Celica (GT Auto), we've found and bought a 2001 Celica (GT 5-sp) with the action package for $20,300 with 1800 miles... Good Deal or not? I haven't finalized all things yet.:D

considering the action package is a $1500 option, not bad :)

Not bad...was it driven well for the first 1,000? Read that its better for the long term quality of the engine.

I would definitely not pay over $18,000 for a used GT. Of course, I would pay less for one with the Action Package (I think it detracts from the car's appearance, so I wouldn't pay extra for it).
ya.. there is one thing i don't get.. why people will buy a gt with action package.. and think they are faster than gt-s or a civic si?

Well, since the last vehicle ended up being covered under the collision and damage, the insurance is going to skyrocket. Since, the insurance, from what I've heard, is already high on a GTS because it's in a slightly different class, the insurance will be even higher. So we're going to stick with a GT.
Also, it's sort of used. The guy who originally had it couldn't get his finances to work and had to return it to the dealer. The dealer promised to start the warranty from the mileage when we leave the lot. Meaning our warranty will go until 3 years/31800 miles since they're considering a new car. I'm not sure how the previous person rode it, but it should be okay since it sounds like the guy really wanted to keep it. Hopefully everyone knows that you're supposed to baby the thing for at least 1000 miles.
I didn't really care for the action package, but it saves me a step since the previous one had the TRD body kit. It's also a step being a manual rather than a automatic. Plus, it was the only spectra blue on the lot, the color she wanted, and it was a manual, the drivetrain I wanted.
According to their computers, it's what they bought the vehicle for from the factory. I think it's a load of sh!t, but after talking for quite a while, i couldn't it lowered.

Not a very good deal... :(
I just ordered a 2002 GT with action package and almost every other avaialable option (no fog lights) for 19,600. That was 1.5% over invoice for a brnad new, built to order 2002 GT.
Of course I am gonn have to wait probably about 6 months to get the car, but that's another story!

I am sure this was a misprint on your part but the warranty should be 3 years 36,000 miles for everything. 5 years 60K for powertrain. and 5 Years for rust-through.
So you should get 1800 miles over those limits.

greg - what zip do u live in?? also, this has fog lights, security, moonroof, that whole sealant option crap... crap. i can't remember the rest. anyhow, i'm wondering because i believe different areas have different values for cars. although, i'm sort of a newbie at purchasing cars, so any help would be appreciated.

I screwed up. The price I am getting is 19,900 which is 1.5% over invoice. *Invoice* for my car is 19,600.
The options I chose:
Alloy wheels
Action Package
All Weather guard
ABS
Side Airbags
Sunroof
Power windows and door locks (power upgrade package)
floor matts
- No security system, no fog lights. I am going to get TRD fogs once I get the car as well as an aftermarket security system.
This is good price though. I went to another local dealer to test drive a GT. On the way out to the car they told me they would beat any quote I got, as long as it was a real quote. WHen I told them the price I was offered they said "no way". Then they tried to tell me the dealership I bought from couldn't possibly deliver the car to me at that cost. Whatever - I'll be luahging (in my new car) all the way to the bank.

Check out edmunds.com to get the real invoice pricing on the car (don't forget to figure in options).
If it weren't for the fact that the car is used I would say this is a good deal.
