Does anyone know if the new Corolla's 1ZZ-FE is the same as the MRS 1ZZ-FE?

Yep.

It should be a good little performer. The engine is the same as the MR2 and the chassis is based on the Celica.

Even more interesting is the new Matrix which is supposed to have the same engine as the Celica! They reckon it will come out some time this year.
