I currently won an auction for an Alpine reciever, which is supposely new. The reciever is still on it way to me. The seller inform that he screw up and mix up the two by sending the other person a new one and send me the remanfactured units. He will give me a one year warranty because he screw up the order.

I just curious how does these remanufactured unit hold up. I have the option of sending it back for a full refund or keep it with a warranty on it.

F****n send that shiet back. Remanufactured with warranty my a$$. New headunits also come with warranty from the manufacturer. There's a reason why it's remanufactured.......because it was broken. It will never be the same as new again. That seller is being shady as far as I know. Tell him to send you a new one.

Well, it's the Alpine 7995, which is the last year model, so I dont' know it still has the manufacturer warranty. He also say that if I want warranty, I have to pay retail price. So now, I don't know how warranty works anymore.

I believe he is lying to you. Well I just took a look at Alpine's warranty info, and to sum it up:

1) There is a 1-year warranty for all headunits from the date of the ORIGINAL purchase. So if you bought it from ebay, then it probably passed that 1 year. So whether it is new or remanufactured, it has NO warranty.

2) Also, warranty is valid ONLY if you purchase it from an AUTHORIZED Alpine dealer. Since you purchased it from Ebay, it would not have warranty whether or not, it was reman. or new, or less than a year old. You just simply do NOT get warranty.

So.....in essence....you do NOT get warranty no matter what if you buy ANY car stereo products off of ebay, no matter if it is used or new. I know JL is especially strict on this issue.

If I were you, I'd make him send you a new one since you won't have warranty anyways, even if it was new and you paid retail (which does not make any sense to begin with). And if he doesn't send you a new one for FREE, then file a Ebay fraud report!

Well, he say to send it back once I recieved it and if I don't like, I can send it back for a full refund. He is also sending me an invoice or reciept on the purchase of the product with the date on the reciept, showing that I would have 365 days of warranty.

I'm going to send it back though, I dont' want to go through the hassle in the near future if reciever happen to break again then I have to uninstall it and send it to the person I bought it from or a Alpine dealer i guess with the reciept of the reciever.
