How do I get out the Big Scratches on the plasitc?

I was putting in a new deck this weekend, and somehow managed to put a 4 or 5 inch scratch down the side of the dashboard between the passanger air bag and the center consol. It's pretty deep and looks horrible. Is there anyway I can buff it out or fix it without replacing the whole dash? The last two people in my car were like "What the happend to your dash?" It's pretty sad:annoyed

is it superficial like a mark or is it a deep scratch? try using rubbing compound

its about as deep as the thickness of a finger nail, so yeah, its not superficial
