...anyone seen the commercial for the new Toyota Matrix? it has some robot hunting down this guy who jumps into one...and the robot malfunctions trying to identify what it is...the car looked cool in the commercials, btw ;)

why can't they make decent commercials for the celica!? they only had two good ones i know of...the one with the fighter jets, and the canadian one with the revving...

i don't think they'll probably make any good new celica commercials either though...the car's not new anymore.

Then why don't you vote with your wallet. Sell your Celica and buy the car you feel has the best commercial.

ok, well they made commercials anyway for the celica. (the looks fast ones). and they (as most would agree) weren't that great. but some of their commericals show they can make good ones.

so what i was asking was, why can't they make more good commercials for the celica instead of bad ones?

if it's a crime to watch and judge commercials, sorry.

I agree. They are pushing the Matrix big-time, and don't really push our car anymore. But look at the upside. At least we were pushed initially, unlike the MR-2 Spyder. Toyota absolutely ignored that car from the beginning. Also, it would be GREAT if the commercials help sell a $hitload of Matrix's. Once those Matrix owners start looking for engine mods, it will benefit us a great deal. Let's hope lots of peeps listen to those flashy commercials and buy a Matrix.

The matrix is everywhere, if you look at all the mainstream car mags like MT, C & D, etc, All over the front inside and back cover is the matrix. I just hope the car sells well or toyota is screwed.

Hey, fine by me if they sell a buttload of Matrixes. That means there's more 2ZZs out on the market looking for mods!

The looks fast commercials were funny, but I think it's a bad idea to point out the negatives of a car. Seems like a strange marketing concept to me. Why not market a Celica's strong points? I guess I'm crazy!

In here the UK we have lots of the new Corolla adverts. They're kinda funny, people pretending to own that car while it's somebody else's. We don't have the Matrix here. (the car, not the movie :) )

they shoulda just stuck with commercials with the GTS wizzing through the desert :).. but if they marketing strategy was to sell more GTs I suppose it worked..

haha that kicks ass.

i agree, i hope they sell a lot of...matrices? (plural for matrix :D)

at least C&D got a decent time out of it (15.7 @ 91..same as their GTS time) so they can start getting compared to the Focus SVT or
the new Civic Si:bang:

the robot commercial looks great, but the matrix looks like a civic hatchback.

Yes, it is interesting that Toyota didn't advertise the Celica like Honda has done the RSX Type S. I never saw any of the "Looks Fast" commercials either. I did see a lot of Type R commercials in 2000 and 2001. One of the local dealerships here in Houston made their own. It worked, they sold a lot of Type Rs because of it. even though the commercial was kind of cheesy.

Hahahaha. No it was a guy in a yellow Type R being chased by a motorcycle cop through Houston. The guy in the Type R takes off across a field to get away and gets the car muddy. He then drives it through a carwash and the motorcycle cop follows. He gets a ticket at the end of the carwash. Pretty dumb, but some cool driving footage.
