Looking to slap that turbo on my matrix xrs as soon as xs gets it released for my car
keyshawn
how were the gains from changing lift and extending the redline?
and how exactly did this get done
did you have xs engineering tune the power fc?

1. http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/keyshawn/xsdyno1.jpg
2. Since I've called aftermarket companies about Celica products for years, XS had my number and called me last year about buying a pre-production prototype.
3. Yes, XS tuned the Power FC.

keyshawn, how often do you "beat" on your celi? I know that i rip my car pretty often as it is. I mean how often are you in lift basically?

I'm not in lift as much as I used to be before I got the turbo kit, since my car pulls even at 4000-5000 rpms. Excessive speeding tickets would probably become an issue if I tried to be in lift now as much as I did back when my car was n/a. I only need to be in lift when I really wanna haul a$$.

Keyshawn...was your tranny problem a result of the turbo? Some of the others haven't had any problems with their tranny's but maybe they will eventually? Did you reinforce your new tranny? What did you do exactly and how much did it cost? And when will the kit be available to people OUTSIDE of California who are not willing to travel from Jersey all the way there....lol (if you know, because I called and they said they couldn't comment on how long it would take). I'm fiending for one of these, but the wait is horrible knowing that if I lived in California, or near there, that I would have a pre-production hook up. Thanks for the info in advance...

You do not need to travel to CALI to get the kit. The main reason why people go there to get it, is because they tune the Power Fc. You could go to an authorized shop in the east coast to tune it.

The guys at the tranny shop I went to said that even with the dinky little gears the Celica has in its tranny, they're surprised it failed with only 90 HP more than stock. Adding serious power to a small tranny like ours with nitrous, a turbo, supercharger, etc. definitely affects its reliability somewhat, but there was also a dose of plain bad luck involved with my failure also. My new tranny is internally stock except for a TRD LSD, so it's not any stronger than my old one. The tranny problems cost me $1,400 for parts and labor, NOT including the LSD.

Your motor mount problem sounds like the weakness that Hotchkis discovered with the tranny's bell-housing. I agree, our trannies are a bit delicate, regardless of whether we go f/i or n/a.
