It is widely commented on around here about how TRD hasn't given the Celica the support it deserves. I can definitely see arguements for that. My question is if this is the case, why are there so many Celicas with TRD stickers and windshield banners on them? If TRD makes limited products for the Celica, why the large number of Celica owners advertising for them?

Well... look at the support TRD gives the Celica in comparison to say... the Corolla or even the MR2 Spyder. The Celica has far more parts and items for it, whether it be simply a body kit or the catback exhaust... only the Supra has another catback...

i've got a TRD badge or too. and a small banner.
it says "//TRD Toyota Motorsports'.
that should answer your question. i'm a fan of toyota motorsports, and TRD usually ends up handling all their racing stuff. especially now what with toyota entering formula 1 and all (even if they'll suck for the first few years).
also, TRD's the only company i know to build a 700+hp 2ZZ-GE, even if they didn't end up using it. and i love what they did with the toyota atlantic 4A-GE, and the 3S-GTE (which is what will power chris rado's drag celica), not to mention the 2JZ engines.
What TRD did and what TRD does are two different things. As far as ricing your car out with stickers, that's a whole different eppisode.
I have one TRD Sportivo sticker, and it came with the parts that I installed on my car. The same performance parts that enable me to outhandle 90% of the Celicas on this board. Then there's always the TRD clutch disk and TRD clutch plate cover that's hooked up inside as well. I almost forgot about my TRD mechanical body kit. I'll soon have the TRD 13" break upgrade to add to my mod list. These parts are very high quality in fit, finish and performance. So, I'm proud to sport the TRD label. If you guys wanna cry about TRD, go buy a Honda Civic or Acura RSX and ask the dealer to hook you up with perforance products. Try Nissan too. I hear NISMO sells like crasy at the dealerships **sarcasm**

When was the last time you saw a TRD catalog? All those cars have more parts available than the Celica.

To each his own. I'm not a TRD fan, and I don't like stickers. Other people DO like TRD and/or love putting stickers on their ride. It's all good either way.

As stupid as that sounds, you might have a point there.

I guess stickers just seem stupid to me. I have Comptech, AEM, and DC products on my car. But you'll never see a sticker on it that didn't come from the factory.

I bet this thread started because of my post about the new stickers I put on the side of my car. Well I can completely understand how people think it's stupid for me to bash TRD for the lack of usable parts but yet still advertise for them. I wasn't really bashing them really. I just thought it was a catchy thread caption. Yes I do wish TRD would release more parts for the Celica and not discontinue parts they already had. I am, however, am still a fan of TRD and I'm still hopeful that in time TRD will come through for us.
The reason why I put these stickers (http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/rdelros787/lst?&.dir=/My+Photo+Album/TRD+Stuff&.src=bc&.view=t&.begin=1&.order=&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/rdelros787/lst%3f%26.dir=/My%2bPhoto%2bAlbum/TRD%2bStuff%26.src=bc%26.view=t) is because I'm trying to go for the same look that inspired me to get a Celica to begin with. I don't know if you guys remember the add TRD put out on SCC and other mags showing their performance parts on a white Celica and a black MR2. Well, I now have the Celica, wheels the resemble the ones on the TRD equiped Celica, and so I just added the stickers because they are the same one on that Celica. I know you guys may think it's stupid but it's a dream come true for me.
To each his own, and this is mine.

Im with Bo on this one. TRD makes plenty of parts for our car. The only people that should be complaining that there isnt enough trd parts are those who have all of them. I personally go with trd products because I think they are tested much more than some of the other aftermarket options and they are certified by toyota.

i agree with redline (and therefore bo) ... the reason TRD sells you these parts for a lot of money (besides the enormous profits that all aftermarket part makers make) is because they undergo heavy testing in addition to insane amounts of R & D... i swear to god.. such a stupid thing.. those TRD wheel arches that David sent out for chump change ($90) which were normally 500 somthing... the quality on them is INSANE... the way the fit the cars angles and sit in the grooves can't be matched by anyone in my opinion.
this is why i respect the parts that TRD does make. whether I like those parts.. thats a diff story.

No, I missed that post. On my way back from the mall on Saturday, I saw 4 Celicas with TRD stickers or windshield banners on them. I thought how interesting it was that I see so many like that with all the complaints of no support. That's what prompted the original question.

And I will completely agree that these guys are clowns as well. Personally, I think any windshield banner is pretty dumb. I have yet to see one that added anything to the car. Even the plain color ones look stupid.

I feel TRD makes quality products. It might not be everything we hoped for, but the parts that are available are very good. Everything that I want made by TRD I have, which includes a grand total of springs and exhaust. I would have bought a short shifter but they were impossible to get. Now I regret having a B&M short shifter because it's a total **** product.

And I would agree with that as well. I've installed their short shifter on cars before and put a TRD exhaust on a GTS. The stuff they make is pretty good. I don't think it's the best, but their quality is generally high.

That's the reason I have them too. And now with F1 racing starting for Toyota I'll be more than happy to have the TRD/Toyota Motorsports stickers on my ride. Go Toyota!
I do agree that TRD needs to get in gear a little bit more than what's happening now with the Celica (which is nothing much). But I'm happy with the quality of my exhaust so I have no shame in putting the stickers on. I want my car to look clean so I do keep the stickers to a minimum. It can be done in a classy non-rice way if you do it right.

Yeah, I pretty much don't like stickers either. I did see a few cars with stickers that were very descreet and served more as "accents" to a car.. and I think that at times that looks pretty cool. One of the solara guys at our last meet had small white TRD stickers on his white car.. and it looked really good because it was descreet.. yet made his car look a bit different than the average Solara.
I ordered some Silver TRD stickers for my Celica.. and I will decide whether to put them on when I get them.. I rip on TRD myself, but the reason I'd only put their stickers on my car is because I do love Toyota.. and I think TRD can be most easily associated with Toyota's and racing. Even though they tick me off.. they are a part of Toyota, and I don't mind using them as a symbol of sorts to make some people aware that I'm not driving an average Celica. But again, I"m looking for a small descreet look.. and not some "in your face" display.. I still don't feel the need to put stickers from every company who's parts I own on my car..

TRD still needs to get their heads outta the sand and make some engine parts for the Celica. IF and when they do that, then I'll give 'em props (and some of my money). But I still won't put one of their stickers on my ride. Just a personal preference.

on a side note, i have a feeling that the trd and other toyota aftermarket products are soon to get big, considering that the celica, matrix and corolla S all share a common power plant, if you havent forgotten thats pretty much how the honda popularity started, the cars had common powerplants which means one product might be suitable to fit on 3 different cars and not to mention engine swaps weren't to hard to do either
just my $0.02

Yes, there will be a lot of their cars out there, but how many of those owners will be looking for mods? That's where the key will be. I don't know if Toyota can convince many of the Corolla crowd to mod the car. The Corolla sells more than the Celica I would guess, but not as much as the Civic.

adding to Papichuu's post,
Celica GTS and Matrix XRS shares the 2ZZ-GE.
Celica GT, Matrix/XR and Corolla S shares the 1ZZ-FE.
Future Toyota car that will share these engive will be the Toyota WiLL vs/vi

OMG. If Toyota ever makes anything as butugly as that, I'll have to wisper the name Toyota when in public.
I've never believed in the 'free ad's' thing. I pulled the Toyota badge and the dealer badge soon as I got it home.
If they dont know what it is...too bad!
Well, I do have a small TRD badge and the GT-S.
Any other badges would have to like "Lockhead-Martin F-14" or something. (hehe)
TRD is overpriced good equipment, I just don't understand why they have quit producing.

i forgot another car, the MR2
so the matrix/vibe, mr2, celica, and corolla all have similar powerplants
that should definately open up the aftermarket for our engines, especially for the 1zz since its in all of the above

The MR2 Spyder will only be able to share internals with the other cars. The bolt ons won't fit.
