Will a 225/45/15 tire fit well on a 15x7" rim?

Will a 225/45/16 tire fit well on a 16x7" rim?

Do you think a 225/45/16 on a 7" wide rim is too much tire for a GTS; ie. would this size hurt or help performance? It's a very tiny bit smaller in overall diameter than stock and about 3/4" wider. The wheels I'm considering are lighter than stock.

Yes they will fit on those rims. What are they going to be used for? The wider tire would help for launching while drag racing. But they will also increase drag b/c they are wider. For autox I have seen some say 205 are better than 225 and vice versa.

I'm debating getting dedicated autox/track wheels and race tires and keeping my stockers for daily driving, or getting a premium street setup that would work well at the track too.

Either 15x7" Kosei K1 wheels or something cheap like that w/ Kuhmo 225/45 V700 for track only or 16x7" SSR Competition wheels w/ 225/45/16 Pirelli P-Zeros. (Can you tell I go to the Tirerack web site? ;) )

Anyway, the SSR/Pirelli combination is nearly $1000.00 more than the Kosei set up! :wtc: I just noticed that the outside edge of the Kuhmo Ecsta 712's have little chunks torn out of them after only 6 autox runs. Doh! Maybe running my street tires on the track is a more expensive idea than I want to consider.

Anyone else care to comment?
