Hey guys.... I live in australia and have had my celi for about 8months now. Just the other day i was driving around in the city, with the aircon on, on a pretty hot day. As i was stopping at the lights, the revs started to act funny, and when i can to a stop, the revs were hovering back and forth between 200 and 700. Then my car just stalled!
Do any of u guys know a reason for this. It isn't even a year old and has only got about 12000kms on it. This shouldn't be happening. I've got to say, i haven't been all that impressed with the build quality either. Everything rattles and shakes.
BTW, i use 98ron fuel, and was in normal auto mode, not the manual shifting thing.
Thnx.

i didn't think it was possible to stall in an auto until the other day either. i had no idea this could happen to a new car. :AF:

its possible to stall an automatic, my friend has stalled his saturn a few times actually. nothing wrong with his car that i know of yet, but he does beat it to the ground.. i would probably take it to the dealer to have it checked out.

i went to toyota about a couple of weaks ago cause my car is 6 months old and i have had that same problem about coming to the stop and it feels like it going to stall on u or it just stalls

i brought this up to them and i never told them about my car being a auto anyways.............

i told him my problem and he said there having alot of problems like that with the celica's and say when u misshift its bends the clutch plate then i laughed and i told him i had a auto then he had this weird look on his face and said just to bring it in. so ive i was u just take it in and get it looked at and fixed of course as long as u still got ur warrenty and ur straight..........

i have an auto gts. one time i was driving it really hard like at every light and at one light it shook and the rpm's went down like it was going to stall but it held on. That was the only time though. But if it ever does a few times or so, i'm bringin it in because that's not normal for any auto.

i had an auto 98 accord lx.. and it stalled.. cuz the revs were bouncing so i gave it a lil gas.. once i let go.. the rpm dropped all the way and it stalled.. this happened 3-4 times... never took
to dealer but its ok now..

You may need to relace the fuel filter that is if youve ever run really low on gas...it coulda sucked up junk outta the bottom of your tank....just my .02

I dunno if this will help but my Friend's Auto Ford Explorer stalled... The revs were bouncing and if you put your foot off the gas it would shut off the car. We fixed it by flooring it after we started it and not braking after awhile and the problem went away. I think it had to do with the high heat because it was during the summer and I saw on a website that the Explorer had a problem with the ECU getting too hot or something...

sometimes i get some rumbling when i start braking to a complete stop cuz my throttle cable's a little tight....but the revs are usually higher up near 1000 when that happens. i've never had them drop.

at a light today i saw the needle pegged at like 400-500rpm, the car didn't make a sound, and drove fine.

obviously, you need to take it into your dealer and see what's up with the tranny, it's not supposed to do that.
