How do hoodpins mount to your carbon fiber hood? Kind of a newb question!

They actually mount to the inside of the engine bay/front brace bar. They are bolted into that bar, and then holes are drilled into the carbon fiber hood so that the pins can pass through them. There are brackets that attach to the cf hood. The pin will pass through the cf hood and brackets, and depending on which kind of hoodpins you have, the outer pin (found on the bracket on top of the cf hood) will slid into the hole on the inner pin (brace pin). The most commons ones have an o-ring that goes over the outer ring once its positioned into the inner pin. So its like a double lock system. In a sense, they pinch or "pin" the hood onto the engine bay.
