nc.org - new feature

incase you dont notice it.. on the main forums display page.. there is now a + or - sign next to the forum categories.. if you click it it will minimize or maximize that forum category.. kinda nifty little feature for not showing forums if you dont wanna see them.. it only blocks out the entire group though.. im working on installing the other one which will allow you to set your favorite forums so it only shows them..

actually.. if anything it should lead to less.. if you dont click the post reply page thats one less page that each user will click.. hence the bandwith should drop.. plus I also made it so the smilies box has to be loaded up so it wont auto show up on the post reply page, that means that if you dont wanna post smilies then the bandwith would be lower as well.. so hopefully this all helps out :)

You both have valid points. What about the "attach" feature? It's easy and I must admit that I'm guilty of using it, but isn't it using a lot of nc.org resources to have the pics saved here. Few people actually host their own pics any more.

I just "subscribed" to about 4-5 of the forums and use the "user cp" as my start page. Then I only see the 4-5 forums that I post in and not all the others.

as for whoring.. dont much matter anymore with the site speed.. though Id apprecaite not doing it as we are facing badnwith issues..

as for file attachments, I turned them off but they seem to be back on.. I gotta turn then off again :)

Hey larry, I see you removed the "email this page" button. I used to use it to get a link to the exact page. How can this be done now?

sorry bout that.. damned thing was cluttering up.. to answer your question though say the post is in mods forum, go to mods page, right click on link and choose open in a new window.. that will give you the exact link to the page.. or you can just right click and choose copy as link.. then paste it into an email.. works the same..

the quick reply box makes a big difference for 56K peeps, thanks every second counts (laughing... but in a depressed sort of way... like I need a cable modem... but first need a computer... and somehow I bought a car instead... dammit)

yeah i can imagine.. i used to hate reading the forums on dialup :)
