All,

It's a simple question, but I wanted to start a thread which would once and for all determine which are the tires of choice for Celica owners.

I'm looking to replace the stock Yokohamas when my '02 Celica arrives in May (I live in Belgium...), and am having a very hard time figuring out which tire offers the best (cost no object) dry/wet grip and traction, and can be used on occasional track days....

thanks,

Eric.

I hear from a lot of people that the bridgestone s03 is the best all around performance tire.
I use the kumho 712. Great performance (wet & dry) and they don't wear to quickly. They aren't as expensive as other tires.

yeah, Ive heard a lot of good things about the Kumho 712s. I just ordered a set and having them put on in the morning. My stock Yokos are done.

why go with the Kuhmos? Sure they're good tires and a good value, but the so-3s and other premium tires are undoubtedly better.

Yeah...

Undoubtedly more expensive too... almost twice as much!!!

yea....so-3's are great, but they're too expensive for replacing all season tires. like myself, i was gonna go for the bridgestone re730's...but kumho's got almost the same rating as the re730's. most people on the board don't have the luxury of driving around on clear roads. here in the midwest, we have to put up with these nasty road conditions.

What is the general concensus of the Nitto Nt 555?
We are getting them (225/40/18) with a set of 18" Konig Imagines (Black Opal)this week ...
But anyway, what kind of wear can i expect out of nitto's?
Assume normal driving in Phoenix conditions.

here in arkansas, our weather fluctuates tremendously and u don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. go to tirerack.com. there you will find ratings for each tire done by the customers. that's where i looked and decided on the kuhmos. they're fairly cheap and got great ratings.

The S-03's are unbelievable! great traction , the grip is so good on wet roads , its like driving when its dry, they are a little pricey though

Kumho 712s are really good, unless you want good grip. I used to think they were good, then I got a set of Falken Azenis, and now I know better. I'm seriously considering a set of Azenis for my next dailydrivers. The only concerns I have are tire wear (it says 200, but they're as soft as Yoko A032s, which are rated as 60!) and wet traction. They seem ok in marginal wet conditions, but with the narrow and shallow water channels, I expect they're awful with standing water...
