tanks it is nice to know thiss forum is cool with newbees.
i hav ben starting to get second thoughts on a celica now a lot of other forums of all typs of cars are talking about them killing celicas saying how it is an over priced turtle. on the other hand celica owners say how they beat everyting when they have turbos
i love toyotas and the best looking ricer is the celica
but i havent seen to maney ricers peroid.
it seems a lot of forums praiz ther own car and every one but celica owners says it is slow.
my dad says eveyone elts is just jellous because they can not afford a celica. but if it really slow at least it looks cool.

I think that most boards praze their own cars, on this forum you will find that to but people will also be honest and tell you that the Celica is not the fastest car, but I definitly would not say it is the slowest either, I have killed many other ricer cars (as you put it) but I have also been eaten alive by some, it all depends on how much the other guy put into his/her car, IMO from bone stock the celica is the best car, before I had the money to put any mods on my car, I had a completly riced out 2000 SI pull up next to me and we went we were side by side until around 70 or 80 and he started falling behind and I only have A GT the GTS would have waisted this guy, As for learning about cars and what you should do when I first got my Celica I did a lot of researth on the web then found a celica board and started to read it I then found this board and just read the forums for about 2 months before I even registered, also feel free to ask us any questions in this section because thats what it is their for good luck with everything and welcome,
Mark

Clayrush, the Celica is definately not a slow car IMHO. With a 50 shot of NOS, I have seen Celica owners on this site hit 13's in the 1/4 mile.
But just so you have other options open to you, before you buy a Celica you should look into these cars also...
Suburu Imprezza WRX
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO
Nissan 350 Z
These cars really do have a big performance advantage over a Celica and they cost about the same as a GTS. The WRX and the EVO are 4 door sedan like cars, but they are extremely fast stock, handle really great, and have amaizing potential. The Nissan 350 Z is a two seater RWD sport car that is going to be impressivly fast. The only downside to it is I'm sure that the insurance on one will be outrageous, plus my experience with Nissan tells me that they will have electrical problems down the line. They are all worth looking into though...
Clayrush, I sent you a PM.

Putting in a Manual is going to be very very expensive. If you want to play around with the zx, it might be a good learning tool. but I would save the money for modding the Celica. There are many things you can do to the Celi right when you get it ( i.e.- Injen CAI, Butterfly Removal, TRD exhaust, Springs, ...) These are not too expensive mods, but really can help. Also for some info, check out the FAQ's section (I think thats what its called) on this site. It has a breif overview of the Celica.
