has anyone gotten this problem?
dunno where it came from but when im at a light or stop sign idling the revs will drop to almost 500 then bounce back up to 1000 and just bounce around there till it almost stalls then i start going again, the car drives fine and its really weird becuz it doesnt happen all the time .... it just started happening now when i went to lunch, on my drive to the bank and kfc it was fine, then i went to go pick someone up and as im waiting at the light it started bouncing up n down, i stopped to pick him up and it was bouncing, then i got to the next light and it was normal then at the next light it did it again, finally when i got back to my job it was normal.
the car runs fine and i wasn't racing the engine at all
i just started it up now and let it idle for 10 mins and it idled fine i revved up a few times and it was still fine

any ideas??

its not the normal cold revs that bounce when the car is cold
the car was at operating temperature when this ish started happening

Fluctuating idle is a pretty common come and go problem with Celica's, so your engine is probably perfectly fine. If it persists or gets worse, you may want to look into the idle air control valve as the culprit.

My car did this for a while, but only after the car had been started up first thing in the morning. Eventually it detereorated to the point to where the engine would actually cut out and stall on me. I took it to the delarship and they finally diagnosed the problem as the idle air control valve and fixed it.

Same thing happens to me. It's not all the time..just sometimes. I hope if it gets worst that it's covered under warranty. Anyone know if it is?

Happens to me once in a blue moon. When I come to a stop at a light, it drops down to round 400rpms, feels like it's going to stall but it doesn't. If it doesn't stall, it should be okay.
