Took my car in to get my oil change and figured I would get the DRL's disabled while I was getting it worked on. Well they called me to tell me they could not do it without diabling my high beams to which I responded that they couldn't remove the relay or the fuse but there was a TSB for it. The tech told me he had never seen such I thing and told me if I knew how to do it why didn't I do it myself. I said :bs: and faxed the TSB to the service manager.

Anyways the service manager just called me and told me they could do it but it would cost $44.95. I was under the impression it was a free thing. For $44.95 I want leads run to allow me to add a switch to my panel later.

Ohhh god... dealerships are sooo damned stupid. Never ask them to do anything unless you bring some KY for them to fvck you in the a$$ with.

That tells you exactly how to do it and it takes about 5 mins. Also, if you want to you can easily add a switch.
Have fun!

I know that I can do it myself by cutting the wire and adding a switch just figured a dealership would 1. know how to do it and not need a customer to get the TSB for them 2. give me less hassle about it being done if they did it

just cut the wire, so simple. dont let toyota do anything unless like the guy said before, your willing to bend over and take it up the ass like a man, cause they will try to.

yeah just cut and put the switch in yourself... if you use no solder leads it takes all of 15 min. , and 2 the dealers will never know you did it if you do it right, just flip the switch and enable it when you go for service...

There is another way to do it without cutting any wires. If you look on the dash directly in front of the driver's side right next to the windshild, you'll see a sensor. That is what controls your lights to automatically turn on at night. All you have to do is go under your dashboard look for the sensor, (it should be close to the firewall all the way up near the top of the dash), disconnect it and just tuck the plug out of the way. That's all there is to it. No cutting or destroying and pins or having to take anything apart.

Only problem with that is if you turn on your headlights, you won't be able to turn them off unless you turn off the car.

I just cut the stupid wire. I'm eventually going to put in a switch, but until I actually buy a dash trim or have a reason to tear the dash apart, I'm just gonna leave it.
