The celica interior isn't to bad I suppose but it's nothing special really. As of right now I'm pretty happy with the way the outside my car looks it's clean and I like it. However I'm bit unsure what to do about the interior and thats what I like to mod next.

So far all I have is the indigo gauges so I'm open to any ideas. I've been considering going with a Black CF Dash set or maybe having the dash painted or a combo of the two. Also been looking at the alluminum dash kits.

As far as painting the dash I've heard both good and bad things about it. I'm concerned about the paint chipping and generally looking pretty bad after awhile. Also wondering if this would lower the car worth to?

Basically I'm just trying to make the interior in general look better other then painting or a CF Kit I'm out of ideas so any ideas would be welcome.

I had the body shop paint my pieces and it came out really good. Nice and shiny and looks exactly like the exterior....to better enhance your look, look into get racing seats. IMO it makes a world of difference.

Hmmm...I'm looking to do the same thing in a couple months...

Personafied, how well do your painted pieces hold up to bumps/kicks/scratches? I notice I incidently hit the plastic pieces pretty often and was just wondering if this would be a worthwhile investment. I mean, I don't wanna have to get everything repainted everytime I have a clumsy moment... :)

I have CF Dash kit. I hate it. I am paintign my dash and interior panels right now but I cant get the damn CF dash kit off. I might have to order all new interior pieces which will piss me off. The CF is a bitch to get off and I got a lil bit of it off and it leaves a horrible sticky residue that even GOOF OFF or Paint Remover doesnt seem to get off.

And It depends on if when u paint ur interior how u paint it, if the paint is flexible and how many clear coats u put on. I am painting mine with a compressor and paint gun. I have flexor additive so that my interior will be able to flex after i paint it.

No problems at all. my radar detector has fell on it a million times and no scratches at all. Just amke sure the body shop puts a good coat of clear coat. But its still shiny after a year and a half. I wax it just like I do my exterior.

Hmm so you don't like the carbon fiber interior? Why is that?

I've also been looking at the Aluminum/titanium interior I wonder if anybody here has that and what do they think about it?

Yeah, I'm been wanting to put in an aluminum dash too, but... they seem to be hard to find. IPT(they're in the sponsors page) has a Titanium one, which is an overlay and isn't really metal I belive, and a True Aluminum one, also an overlay but actually aluminum. One or two people here supposedly got the aluminum ones but to my knowledge, never posted pics. I'd rather get a full replacement than an overlay kit but as I said, hard to find. Here's some pics of what I think was a custom job out on everythingcelica.org. I like it except for the rivets.

There are more pics of it on that site if you want to see more.

Yes I like it but I can't imagine how much a full replace liek that would cost. Especially custom made like that.

Sigh frustrating because I love the exterior of the celica and it's simply to work with to improve on it. But I really would like to improve the interior quite a bit.

There are more pics of it on that site if you want to see more. The rivets are there to hold the aluminum to the center console. The guy said regular double sided tape wouldn't hold. Also, the metal dents pretty easily, but it needed to be thin to conform to the shape of the center console pieces.

I have the carbon fiber dash kit and i love it, i couldnt imagine my car without it.

Sigh ok well I'm starting to lean towards an aluminum kit. Repainted dash black (like 03 celicas) and maybe go silver on the vents and possibly other trim.

Need to find out though how much a custom aluminum/titanium job would cost me though although I could go with IPT.

Yeah, i read why the rivets were there, just prefer a clean/smoother look, but don't get me wrong, it still looks great. Wish I knew of someone in my area that could do custom work like that.

When I finally decide on an interiour color scheme, I'm going to have the body shop here in town do the paint job. I like the CF alot, but after playing with everything in Photoshop I'm digging the painted center pieces better. I'm also thinking of having the dash vinyl dyed dark grey or black.

Mike00

Archaeon thats what I've been leaning towards myself. However I realized that if I paint the dash a black color then I'd probably have to do the doors to make it look ok and then truthfully the panels in the rear also. So I'm not sure if thats a route worth going at least for me.

As of right now I'm thinking maybe I'll just paint the console and the vents.

at the end of the month i'm starting my interior work. i'm starting with dying the whole inside black (think dye is better than paint, imo), and i'm trying to decide what else i want to do. i'll figure that out once the main parts are dyed.

Mike00

You going to dye the doors and the rear too? Or just the dash? And when your done would love to see pics.

Get some Chrome Rings are probably the best interior mod you can get only problem is they are expensive.

That's an excellent route to go, IMO. I'm probably going to start with the center console/plastics. But like I said, I've been playing around ALOT with Photoshop with different colors and schemes trying to figure out what I think looks good. Keeps me from having to make an immediate decision whilst being able to play with the colors. ;) Keep us updated with your progress, and post pics!

True enough. What I wnat to do is paint the dash black (like yours and the rest of 03 celicas) and then do silver trimming along with probably a silver console. Kind of like what you did but a bit different. After that I'd like to add new seats truthfully but that seems expensive. But I could go with a black/silver color scheme on the seats that would go good with the car. Sigh I need more cash.

Like this

If you have money, replace your stock seats and steering wheel. You'll have a totally different car;)

There's plenty you can do w/ your interior. These are some old pics of my interior in case you want some ideas. Unforchunately, all of mine is back to stock now. But, you can "mold in" electronic equipment/guages/switches...the list goes on and on. Just be creative and do what you want. You can also fit guages in the air vents if you want to.

Out of curiosity what are the gauges for inside the sunglasses compartment?

In order: Voltimeter (useless but free), A/F ratio (useless but free), Oil Pressure (kind of useful, $$).

Mine for possible inspiration. Self installed full interior; panels from pilars up wrapped in black fabric, remaining panels dyed black, door sills and rear deck sill and trunk tray coated in black rubber; Razo Shift knob; White faced guages; VIP alarm and keyless entry; Blue candy painted over black carbon/kevlar overlay kit; broadway mirror and tinted windows to 35%-- on the way, Black Recaro SRDs; and dash, steering wheel, shift knob, shift boot, pillars, door inserts, and roof lining all covered in black alcantra.

Yah that looks great. Definitly going to go with the dying the dash black. Thanks for the pics, well I guess I just need to decide but I'm leaning towards black panels and dash with silver trim and console. Now to find a place that will do this for a fair price around me.

Definitly I've got some ideas what I'm going to go with.

For now I'll start off with a pair of racing seats that are black and silver. I'm going to pain the console silver along with vents, and some trim and probably the inserts in the doors (leather inserts or I'll do an overlay something to make it silver). Finally I'll dye the dash black along with the doors and probably the rear. From there we'll I'll see how it goes.
