track event & auto tranny

I am helping somebody in my family do a road course track event in March. He has the automatic transmission not the manual. I have had manuals only for many years. Has anyone on this forum run an auto tranny on a road course track event such as NASA, etc? I am interested in knowing if anyone has experienced overheating or other issues and if so how long on the track you were before it cropped up. The track sessions he is going to do will last a half hour followed by an hour break. Probably 4 sessions a day. Anybody? TIA
